Barry Jude Landry
- Writer
- Producer
- Director
Born and raised in southern Louisiana, Barry is descendant of the Cajun
culture and genealogy. After traveling the western United States as a
young man in search of the proverbial land of milk and honey, he
decided to return to school and inform his vision for a career as a
professional writer.
He focused his energies toward earning his bachelor of arts degree in English, cum laude, from UC Santa Barbara, then became a sought-after copywriter in the competitive advertising environment of Los Angeles.
Ten-plus years of writing copy for international clients like Disney, EarthLink, Nero, Barclay's, and XM Radio - in addition to publishing articles for magazines and optioning feature-film scripts to production companies - when the desire to teach lured him away from Los Angeles.
Barry moved to the mountains of Tahoe, focusing his energy and effort toward both his creative writing endeavors and teaching college-level English, Screenwriting, and Journalism courses at Lake Tahoe Community College and Sierra Nevada College.
Barry has published myriad essays, profiles, and articles in journals, newspapers, and periodicals like The Times-Picayune, Reno magazine, Scene, Venice, LowDown, and the Tahoe-quarterly.
Having completed six feature-length screenplays, including the recent suspense-thriller "Homelicide" and action-thriller "PoBoys," he's developing another short-film project being filmed in the New Orleans area: "Bridge of Sighs." His slate of creative endeavors also includes the development of several cable-syndicated narratives.
Barry is working on the publication of his first novel, Simple Man.
