Benn Norman Phillip Allsop (Born November 13, 1987) grew up with his
parents and two sisters, living the country life deep down in the hills
of the hunter valley, Australia.
Being the oddball, Benn was the creative/artistic member of the family. While performing in the musical adaption of "Taming of the Shrew", Benn shocked his parents, and the audience, by coming out from behind a shower curtain in nothing but a bright, floral towel to sing "Splish Splash". Benn knew performing was his passion from that moment.
Soon after, he landed a role as an extra on the mini-series "Marking Time", where he worked closely with Abbie Cornish, Abe Forsythe, Gyton Grantly and Boyana Novakovic.
Benn extended his musical talents by learning the play the clarinet, bass clarinet and tuba. At the age of 15, he was inspired by musician Ben Folds and fell in love with the Piano, which Benn has been playing ever since. This talent lead to a collaborative recording of a song with Grant Walmsley (The Screaming Jets).
Having graduated from the Hunter School of the Performing Arts, Benn trained as a performer in Music Theatre, while expanding his music endeavours and receiving work at a Newcastle based theatre restaurant "The Kavon". It was this opportunity that introduced Benn to the character "The Joker", which thrills and chills patrons of the theatre restaurant on a weekly basis.
As an active stage performer, Benn was nominated for a C.O.N.D.A award (City of Newcastle Drama Awards) for his role in the children's show "Billy & the Garbage Monsters" as "Reg Holden-Mudguard", a garbage monster made of old car parts.
Benn also became focused on film and television, continuously auditioning for television commercials, student films, web projects, and just about any opportunity that arises.
Most recently, Benn was selected to host the reality TV Show "iDance Machine TV" in Las Vegas. During his time in the US, he starred as the host for two more commercials for "iDMTV", while also establishing a network of industry contacts. Benn now has Management through a Los Angeles agency.
Benn resides in Australia. For how long? Nobody knows!
