Dutch actress and director Karlijn Koel was born on February 25, 1988 in Nijmegen. She studied drama at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle. Since then she has appeared in various productions on television, film and in the theatre. In 2013, Karlijn made her television-debut as Mireille in 'De Groote Markt 30' (Jan Albert de Weerd), in which she played one of the leading roles alongside Ilse Warringa and Laus Steenbeeke.
In addition to being seen in the short film Giraffe (2016), she founded the film collective Marmermijn Films in 2017, where she is also an actress, creative producer and writer. With this she has made several short films, including Inbreuk (2017), Verkocht! (2018) and Uit de Hand (2018).
In 2020 she founded Klub Karmijn together with her partner Willemijn de Jonge. A collective with which she mainly makes film and theater productions. Under the name Klub Karmijn she was also able to take the step to film directing and she made the short film Quarterlife Cruisers (2021) as a directorial debut for the 48 hour film project in Eindhoven. For this she receives the prize for best directing, in addition to the prize for best film and 8 other prizes.
