Barun Sobti is an Indian Television and Film actor. He was born into a Punjabi family in Delhi. Barun Sobti debuted into the Television industry with the faith-oriented show on Star Plus - Shraddha, after which he played a cameo role in the medical show - Dill Mill Gayye on Star One. Barun Sobti's first noticeable role was as the carefree Shravan Jaiswal in Sony TV's Baat Hamari Paaki Hai opposite Ankita Sharma. He was nominated for the Best Actor award in the prestigious Apsara Awards (Star Guild) for his role as Shravan.

Barun rose to fame through his role as the hot-shot angry young business tycoon Arnav Singh Raizada in Star Plus' Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? which instantly made him the Heartthrob of the Indian Television industry and received numerous awards for his flawless portrayal.

After Iss Pyaar Ko...Barun made his Bollywood debut in 2014 through the film Main aur Mr Riight opposite Shenaz Treasury. He earned rave reviews from critics for his portrayal as the wannabe actor and loud Sukhi Singh. He was later seen in a short film called Dry Dreams (2015), opposite Kritika Kamra. The short film, based on on water conservation, is one of the most watched and widely shared videos on the Pocket Films (India's leading distributor of short films, documentaries) website.

In early 2017, Barun featured in a Hotstar Originals romantic web-series - Tanhaiyan opposite Surbhi Jyoti, in which he played the role of a Casanova. The webseries comprised of 9 episodes and is one of the most watched and liked videos on Hotstar. In July 2017, Barun made a comeback on Indian Television with the 3rd season of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? opposite Shivani Tomar. He played the unapologetically dark anti-hero Advay Singh Raizada and was nominated as the Best Actor Popular for his role in the Indian Television Academy (ITA) awards. Barun's second film, soccer-themed Tu Hai Mera Sunday, released in October 2017 after travelling across the globe in various prestigious Film Festivals. The film premiered at the BFI's London Film Festival in 2016 and won the Audience Choice award at the Cinequest Film Festival (USA). It was also screened at the Mumbai Film Festival and New York International Film Festival. Barun received rave reviews from the critics and audience for his portrayal as the easy-going Arjun Anand in this slice-of-life film.

Barun is the only Indian Television actor to be featured in the &#39;20 Most Intriguing People&#39; by People&#39;s Magazine India in 2012.

Barun was voted as the 3rd Sexiest Asian Man by a UK Magazine, Eastern Eye.

Barun was awarded Best Indian Actor for his Influence on Social Media in the year 2015-16 by iOchoice Awards which recognize and honour the best Indians on social media.

The numerous awards in his kitty earned Barun the title &#39;Golden Boy of Television&#39;.

Barun Sobti is the only TV actor to have bagged 4 awards in just one year at the Star Parivaar Awards for his role as Arnav Singh Raizada. He was awarded Best Actor at the prestigious Global Indian Film and Television Honours, People&#39;s Choice Awards and the Desh Ka Sitara award at the ITA in 2012.

Starred in a shelved film titled &quot;Satra Ko Shaadi Hai&quot;, starring Barun Sobti and Sapna Pabbi in lead roles. The film was to be produced by John Abraham and co-produced by UTV-Disney, but sources claim that after the company closed its Bollywood production arm, John has apparently not been able to arrange funds for its release, hence film was shelved for good. This was in 2015-2016.
