Holgers first studies were media technology at the University of Applied Scienes in Hamburg where he graduated with a bachelor degree 2010 and shot his first short films and music videos til 2010. After two years of intense time on small and big sets and a master class with Vittorio Storaro in Gothenburg he made it into the cinematography class of the renowned University of Television & Film under Michael Ballhaus, Tom Fährmann, Peter Zeitlinger and Axel Block in 2012. In 2018 he was awarded the "Bronze Tadpole" on Camerimage and "Cinematographer of the year" at the European Cinematogrpahy Award for his action charged sci-fi short "Them". In 2019 he graduated with his 89min one-shot-feature "Limbo" which gained him a nomination for the Michael-Ballhaus-Prize - Germany's most important newcomer award. Before finishing film school he already lensed his first international cinema feature "No Name Restaurant" in the first half of 2019.
