Jose Sanchez is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent and was born in Chicago, Illinois.
At age 10, he took up guitar at the International School of Music and continued music theory in high school at J. Sterling Morton East.
In 1998 and 1999, he won back-to-back first-place state championships for guitar playing in the annual Illinois Music Association (IMA) competition.
Auditioned as the guitarist for the Blue Man Group stage band in October 2007 at Chicago's Briar Street Theater.
Attended classes at the Second City (Chicago) in 2011 and worked in several independent films since.
Resides in Chicago.
