Rizi Timane is a Nigerian-American actor, singer, and licensed psychotherapist with an LGBTQIA practice specialty. He had a recurring role as the United Nations Secretary-General in "Decker" on Adult Swim Network, a guest star role on NBC's medical drama, "New Amsterdam," and his life journey as a transman was featured in the Amazon Prime Documentary series, "Outrageous."
Rizi has appeared on several news networks and publications, including Forbes magazine, Ebony, CBS, CNN, and most recently, in TIME magazine as a Trailblazer for his work with the trans community. Rizi has released over five musical albums and several singles in the affirming gospel, inspirational pop, and Afro-House and Dance Music genres. He is an LGBTQIA rights advocate who has spoken at numerous venues worldwide, including at the United Nations (2018), on the need for trans equality and justice. He has also provided transgender and racial-cultural sensitivity and diversity training to numerous agencies, including hospitals, government agencies, schools, and non-profits, across the United States. In 2012, Rizi established a surgery grant through which he provides funding for Gender-Confirming Surgery Grants to the trans community. In 2019, Rizi was honored by the City of Los Angeles with the Transgender Visibility Award for his trans community work and advocacy. The award was presented to him in a televised event at Los Angeles City Hall by Congressman Mitch Ofarrell. Rizi lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
