After studies in literature, art history and psychology and free training in contemporary dance in Berlin, London and New York, Mareike collaborated with choreographers on multi-media performances and directed her first short films.
She continued to alternate between fiction and more experimental forms and works as an assistant director for directors such as Roman Polanski and Volker Schlöndor before joining La Fémis to write her first feature film.
