Nathan Hamilton is best known for his work as a short film director, exploring nonlinear storytelling and flawed characters. His films will often have an emphasis on questioning society's understanding of morality. Born in Canterbury, Kent on 10th November 1988, Hamilton's career began in acting after he graduated from the prestigious drama school, The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, otherwise known as LAMDA, in 2015.
Having worked predominantly in theatre, Hamilton re-trained as a producer, working within the advertising sector on content films for global brands. Using contacts and finance acquired from this experience, as well as a year working within the finance sector in the city of London, Hamilton was able to finance his work in film.
Hamilton is also an accomplished pianist. His first film Répétition (2020) which he wrote, produced, acted in and wrote the piano score for won Best Short Video Soundtrack at the 11th China International New Media Short Film Festival and was nominated for Best Short Film at five festivals worldwide.
His directorial debut came in 2023 with the short film The Reckoning (2023) a period drama set in the early and mid 20th century. The screenplay was based on a poem his father had written in 1976 and featured well known television actor David Hargreaves as the lead, Aleksander.
Hamilton resides in London, England. In 2016, he set up a production company called Safe Hands Productions.
