Jackson Defa was born in Prescott, Arizona. His family soon thereafter
moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where he lived until the age of five. His
passion for acting and drama started when he auditioned at the age of
12 and was accepted to the Theater School For Youth in Salt Lake City,
Utah. He studied there until the age of 15. His theater credits
include: I Never Saw Another Butterfly, Much Ado About Nothing, Noises
off, As If!, The Frog Prince. At the age of 16 he was granted an
internship with Spy Hop Production where he studied film-making and
first got his hands on a movie camera. This ignited his passion
further.
Jackson moved to Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of 19 where he attended the Vancouver Film School. There he attended both the Writing for Film, and the Film Production programs and graduated in the summer of 2008. After graduation Jackson stayed in Vancouver where he worked in the film industry both behind and in front of the camera on commercials and feature films. During that time he directed a play at the Havana theater titled Bad Milk Soup as well as Gyspy Fish Alchemy.
Jackson lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
