Steven Nicholas Smith is a filmmaker, photographer, and artist.
He has a passion for story-telling and wants to use the moving image as a tool to open the eyes, ears, and hearts of the audience. He believes that art has the power to convey complex ideas in a form that can touch the soul of a viewer. Steven is determined to use motion picture to promote discussion, compassion, and empathy while also entertaining.
Steven was born in Seoul, South Korea, to an American father and a Korean mother. Being the son of a Military father, he moved around a lot at an early age, until they settled down in West Chester, a suburb of Philadelphia, PA. Being Biracial, Steven's perspective was somewhat unique amongst the population of his surroundings.
Steven was always interested in the arts, starting with drawing and painting as a young kid. As a teenager, he took interest in Hip Hop Dance culture and ventured into the world of B-Boyin', most commonly known as break-dancing. It was his involvement in the dance and Hip-Hop culture, as well as taking a Media course in his senior year of high school, that saw him transition from the movement-arts to making moving-images.
When Steven graduated high school, he moved to Philadelphia and attended Drexel University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's in Science, majoring in Digital Media, with a minor in Film & Video. After spending several years in Philadelphia, Steven packed up his things and headed west, to the City of Angels. Armed with ambition and a dream, he continues to pursue his love of the art of storytelling.
He currently (2022) works and resides in Los Angeles, CA.
