Anish John Kokken famously known as John Kokken was born on 27th March 1981 at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, Maharashtra is an Indian actor who predominantly works in the South Indian film industry. He uses John Kokken as his screen name to cherish his father John Joseph Kokken.
Early Life
Anish John Kokken was born on 27th March 1981 at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, Maharashtra. His father is John Joseph Kokken and his mother is Thressiamma John Kokken. His father is a retired Vice- Principal of a college. His mother is a retired Matron and has worked for about 13 years in the middle east. John Kokken was born and brought up in a simple and humble upper-middle-class family. He has two younger siblings, the eldest among the two is Lewis John Kokken and the youngest is Anderson John Kokken. He is mostly inspired by his father because his father raised his 3 sons alone while his wife was working as a nurse in the middle east. He is also inspired by his mother for sacrificing her married life and staying away from her husband and children to provide for the family.
John Kokken studied in St. Paul's school, Kuriachara, Kerala till the 3rd Standard. He then studied at Our Lady of Nazareth High School, Bhayander, Mumbai from 4th Standard till 10th Standard. He passed SSC in the year 1996. He then finished 12th Standard (Science) from M. V. L.U.college, Andheri, Mumbai. He passed HSC in the year 1998. He later pursued a 3 years Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Technology from Anjuman-I-Islam college of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, CST, Mumbai and completed it in the year 2002.
He was born into a Roman Catholic family. He is not religious but spiritual owing to his practice of Yoga. His Yoga practice is inspired by the stories of Dr. Rajkumar which were fondly narrated to him by Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar. As a child he was obsessed with movies and that love for movies was fueled by his father who owned a cinema theatre in Kerala way back in the 80s. Also, his father made sure that growing up in Mumbai they watched a lot of movies. Another main person who further fueled his love for movies was his neighbour and his tuition teacher, Mrs. Jayakrishnan with whom he enjoyed watching Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam movies.
Marriage
For close to four years from 4th May 2012 to 16th March 2016, he was first married to Actress Meera Vasudevan and has a son of wedlock named Ariha Anish Kokken born on 22nd June 2014. Since 15th April 2019 he is married to Actress Pooja Ramachandran.
Career
He is a hospitality-industry professional with a Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Technology from Anjuman-I-Islam College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, CST, Mumbai. He is a shy person by birth but the joy of acting helped him to outgrow his shyness. He never dreamt of becoming an actor as he had finished his Hotel management Professional Course and was working with hotels for about 2 years. His entry into the film industry came in the form of advertisement roles both in print and visual media. He started his career as a model and acting was something that occurred naturally to him. In the year 2003, he was featured as a model in the brochures of Hotel Hyatt Regency. And, in the same year, he modeled for the Pakistani designer- Aamir Adnan. In the year 2005, he participated in Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel Contest which were key in his being spotted for Television commercials. In the following years, he did various Television commercials for Cadbury Bytes, SBI, Bajaj Pulsar Bike, Chungath Prince Jewellers and SRK builders.
He has starred in the box-office hit films like 'Veeram (2014)', 'Nenokkadine (2014)', 'Baahubali: The Beginning (2015)', 'KGF Chapter 1 (2018)' and 'Sarpatta Parambarai (2021)'. To date, he has worked in 42 films and 4 web series. Out of this, he has worked in seven Malayalam, eight Tamil, eleven Kannada and sixteen Telugu films. He has also acted in two Tamil and two Hindi web series.
He enjoys acting because on screen he gets to play so many different characters and live their different lives. Also, he enjoys playing the bad guy as it's fun to just explore the dark side of a human. He is a firm believer in hard work, patience and perseverance. His career graph will resonate the same.
