Rob was born in Napier, New Zealand, He is of New Zealand Maori descent (with Ngati Maru and Ngati Raukawa tribal affiliations). For the past fifteen years, Rob has built an Australasian reputation as a versatile actor.
Rob's early career saw him in New Zealand TV productions, such as Shortland Street, The Brokenwood Mysteries, Find Me A Maori Bride, Nothing Trivial and Korero Mai. Film credits include Consent, The Deadlands and Waru. His Trans-Tasman audience first took off during three seasons of 800 Words.
Rob's Australasian and UK following grew rapidly after being cast in the long-running TV series Home and Away as Ari Parata, a Maori father figure seeking a better life in Australia. Rob and his onscreen family played the characters through a Maori cultural lens which was an Australian television first and was a hit with audiences.
Rob is also making a name for himself as a Pacifika meditation music Producer, collaborating with artists such as Disney's award-winning Moana movie composer Opetaia Foa'i. Rob has launched a meditation app called HAAAA, in six Pacific languages.
