Mirissa Neff is a DJ, filmmaker, and journalist whose passion for music, and for exploring the world through the art people make, defines her work. As a trained dancer who spent years studying Brazilian movement and modern dance, her connection to sound has always been through the body. Nowadays she's more likely to be found in a DJ booth or on the dance floor than performing on a stage, but the same passions that informed her performances run through her work. She has hosted radio shows, podcasts, and live DJ sets in clubs from Rio to Paris, with an emphasis on music that she dubs "equatorial beats."
A native New Yorker, Mirissa's broadcasting resume extends back decades (is extensive), to when she appeared on Sesame Street as a child. Now as a globetrotting on-air host for television and radio, she has filed stories from Cuba to Scotland, and worked on film projects around the world. With an eye toward finding innovative artists, her dynamic presence and engaging interviews bring a fresh perspective to the screen.
Always searching for fresh sounds that make her want to move, Mirissa is driven to find human stories that help us better understand our world.
