With a passion for acting, writing and directing, Sonia strives to achieve spontaneity and honesty through film.
Drawn to authenticity and larger than life characters, Sonia has a bold and vibrant storytelling style whether it is through documentary or narrative. Highlighted credits include her original documentary mini-series on happiness entitled "Ecstatic!"(2013) for Vision TV and her eccentric feature documentary "Rose Colored Glasses" (2011) which is available on Vimeo on Demand. Sonia graduated with honours in 2010 from Simon Fraser University's School for the Contemporary Arts in Vancouver, Canada with a BFA in Film. Her grad film "Salvation" (2010) won Best Short in the Death By Night Screening at Moving Image in Toronto and Best International Student Film at the Illinois International Film Festival in Chicago. She was also awarded the Best Student Film and Best Actor award at the L.A. Global Film Festival. Sonia publicly released her second feature documentary "Our 1/4 Life Crisis" which she made available to all struggling with this life change for free online. She also had the donor to direct the popular documentary "Connected : A Film About Autistic People." In 2021, Sonia completed a successful festival run with the award winning feature film "Box of Freedom" which she co wrote and starred in as the lead character Dora. Most recently Sonia has just completed production on her first indie feature "Unidentified Female Object" which she wrote, directed and plays the lead character Aurora.
