His play, Kaintuck, was called "prescient" and "a work of cautionary, speculative fiction when he wrote it in the placid summer of 2000." The play was a tragedy that imagined a catastrophic national moral failing (featuring box cutters as the tool of destruction) in the wake of an unforeseen event and premiered at UC Irvine several days after September 11, 2001.
