Robert Youells is an American fitness model, IFBB Pro bodybuilder, fitness trainer, actor, musician, and writer. He is the drummer for the heavy metal band Generation Kill, also known for his work on Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony (2009), Saturday Night Live (2005), and Deadly Sins (2015) as well as the lead in the well received short, Off Season (2012)
Youells was born in Livingston, New Jersey. He began taking drum lessons at age 6, studying with Rick Aquino until age 9. At age 11, he switched to studying with Keith Necessary, who studied with celebrated jazz legend Joe Morello. He also studied with Joe Nevolo for a few of his teen years.
Youells has appeared on Saturday Night Live (2005), Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Guiding Light, and has done voice/motion capture work for the Grand Theft Auto video game series (2009). He is also the cast member of Off Season and had a supporting role in the short film, Meet My Boyfriend, which screened at the 2011 Manhattan Film Festival. Youells also appeared in The Sitter. He provided the voice of Evan Moss in The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Youells has modeled for various magazine publications, including Vogue and Muscle and Fitness, including two covers.
He has over three decades of drumming experience. Drawing heavy influence from drum greats like Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Tim "Herb" Alexander (Primus), and Danny Carey (Tool), he blends different rhythmic attitudes to forge his own style. He was an original forming member of New Jersey thrash band "Sound Storm" from age 17-21 which morphed into Seminole Underground NJ thrash band Dirt Church. He was the original drummer and founding member of NY hardcore band Full-Scale Riot. After joining the New York Thrash band Generation Kill(2015), the band released an album with former Run-D.M.C member Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels in a project initially titled DMC Generation Kill, officially released as "Fragile Mortals". Most recently releasing the full length Generation Kill effort titled "MKUltra" along with several music videos and singles to support it.
Competing in national and international championships for more than ten years, he has had a successful bodybuilding career. Starting from "NPC Nationals Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure Championships" in 2004, Youells has secured 3rd position five times, 2nd position four times, and 1st position 2 times in his career. In 2013, he took a break from his bodybuilding career due to the tragic death of his mother, Ruth. Youells came back to the stage in 2014, at NPC Universe where he won the Masters Over 35 Overall, earning a pro card from the International Federation of Bodybuilding.
Youells has established himself as a writer. Contributing to Muscle and Fitness Magazine, he also shares his thoughts regarding fitness and gym culture in a well received blog type feature in Muscular Development as part of his sponsored athlete with the Muscular Development publication. MHP supplements also sponsored him most notably being seen in their at the time new protein pudding ads, as well as a very prominent POP and ad campaign for the nutrition store "GNC".
