Brian Edwards(XV)
- Actor
Philadelphia born and raised Brian Edwards is an up-and-coming actor
now based in New York City. He is a graduate of the Maggie Flanigan
Studio Conservatory, has trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade, and
studied with the likes of Anthony Vincent Bova, Eric Morris and Robert
X Modica.
With roles in HBO's award-winning drama series "The Wire," CBS soap opera "As The World Turns" and 2007 biographical drama crime film "American Gangster"-as well as numerous independent films and plays-he has come a long way since attending his first acting class at Bowie State University. Edwards recalls, "I was so nervous my leg was shaking uncontrollably the entire time I was performing the monologue. I was convinced I was going to pass out."
Nonetheless, he persevered, caught the acting bug and hasn't looked back since. In addition, Edwards has performed in "Month 2 Month," which was named Best Drama in the New York Downtown Feature Film Festival, and received more kudos: Award of Excellence from the Indie Fest/Iowa Film Festival, an Official Selection Red Rock Film Festival and an Official Selection New Filmmakers New York. Likewise, "The Bridge" was named Winner of Best Short Film at the Athens International Film Festival, Best Short at the Beijeng First Film Festival, and an Official Selection to the San Diego International Film Festival and New Orleans Film Festival. He also worked in "8:46," an Official Selection to the GI Film Festivals, New York City International Film Festival, Manhattan Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest and Court Metrage Festival De Cannes.
At Bowie State, Edwards played defensive back for the Bulldogs and participated in track events, including the 100 meter, 200 meter and 4x100. While he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, he opted to give law school a pass and pursue acting in New York.
