Bessy Adut is an award winning Film Director, Writer and Producer who is always moving forward with creative content and exciting programs that seek to entertain and educate audiences all over the world.
As a screenwriter, Bessy has completed many original feature film scripts plus a TV series that are ready for production. Her latest short film titled "Escape Room" was completed in 2019 and has accrued multiple awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Editor and Best Screenplay and has been featured in several Oscar Qualifying International Film Festivals throughout 2020.
As a Director, Bessy produced several other films, "Strange Little Girl," "Tolerance," "Father Chaos" and "Mutlucu." As an Assistant Director and Script Supervisor Bessy has worked on multiple short and feature length films, music videos as well as commercial films. Over the past fifteen years she has been involved in all areas of film development, production, and post-production.
Bessy performed on camera and served as a show host for two of the TRT, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation World Documentary series "Inside the Lens" and "Mysteries of Cinema" (2012-2018) where she gained valuable insights on performing, marketing, advertising and publicity. After that experience, Bessy worked at New Films International and gained experience in Film & Television distribution. Afterwards, Bessy also gained more studio experience in 2019 working at DreamWorks with the Chief Creative Officer in Animation as Peter Gal's assistant.
As a Production Coordinator and Director's Assistant, Bessy Adut worked with Bryan Fogel on "Icarus" which won in 2017 for Best Documentary Feature at the 90th Academy Awards. The documentary focused on the truth surrounding doping in sports. This was the first Netflix documentary film that won an Academy Award.
Bessy helped on Bryan Fogel's next film "The Dissident" (2018-2020) and coordinated the premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival in the role of event organizer.
With this vast experience and skill in narrative & documentary filmmaking Bessy is the host of a new podcast she founded and developed titled "Searching for Goodness." The podcast is now available on YouTube and all podcast platforms.
The eye opening series is filled with in depth interviews from a wide variety of highly successful individuals including German actress Wilma Elles, motivational speaker Metin Hara, Shawn K. Clement, composer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and activists from environmental organizations such as Fridays for the Future and Empower with Nature. The closing episode for the first season will be with Andrew Bernstein, the photographer of the iconic Kobe Bryant photo for the NBA.
"Searching for Goodness" brings audiences a wide and diverse slice of life from those who participate on the show with the common goal to share their ideas on the value of goodness in people. The show inspires others to look for something that can unite rather than divide.
Beginning in 2024, the "Searching for Goodness" podcast aired several episodes and will complete 24 episodes for the first season with a look ahead to 2025 by adding new segments and live event interviews.
Bessy Adut always wanted to be in the film world, born in Istanbul, she moved to Los Angeles for her film studies and became a US Citizen. After earning her Bachelors of Arts degree in Film and Television in 2005 from Istanbul Bilgi University in the Communications department Bessy didn't stop there. In 2009 she added a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Directing from CalArts as a Fulbright Grantee. Bessy Adut is also a UCLA Professional Screenwriting Program Alumni (2016-2017) and has taught film classes in writing, directing and producing as an Adjunct Faculty member at Art Institute.
Bessy Adut also contributes movie reviews and articles for an internationally recognized news outlet, Salom Magazine.
As an entertainment entrepreneur who has collaborated as a producer on several film projects Bessy is inspired to jump start a talent management company called Queen Bee's Agents with the goal of representing diverse artists, filmmakers and writers who seek funding for their projects and would otherwise be under-represented.
She loves what she does and enjoys living in Los Angeles, the center of the entertainment business. In addition to creating more avenues for her talent, Bessy Adut aims to travel around the world as she continues to make exciting and uplifting film and television projects bringing it to the next level. _______________________
