- D'Angelo Lacy also known as Black Gatsby is an American songwriter, singer and actor.
Lacy discovered his love of music early in his childhood, while his love for performance came later in life.
As a competitive speech and debate student, Lacy won the 2004 NFL National Championship in Dramatic Interpretation and the 2005 TFA State Championship in Dramatic Interpretation. He was also named a 2005 Young Arts Winner in Theater.
After studying at UCLA's Theater, Film and Television program, Lacy left to pursue his dream of music. Under his stage persona Black Gatsby, the singer/songwriter has claimed a sonic landscape all his own, with a style that blends genres, bends gender and sexuality, and challenges the politics that define them all. He has collaborated extensively with musicians such as Twin Shadow, Justin Tranter, Moon Boots and various artists in multiple genres of music. His song 'Power' with Moon Boots was featured in a UNICEF campaign for women's rights.
