Diego Costa is a media theorist and practitioner whose film work
explores mostly the male body and gay men's psyche. His approach can be
described as experimental and essayistic. He was born and raised in
Brazil, moved to the United States when he was a teenager.
Academically, he focuses on queer theory and psychoanalysis. He is a
PhD candidate in the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of
Southern California and writes film criticism for Slant Magazine.
