But the thing about Origins is that it doesn’t feel like Gibbs’ show at all.

And shockingly, that’s the best thing about it.

The series manages to utilize the stalwart, most renowned character of the NCIS universe, Gibbs, as a Trojan Horse to tell Mike Franks’ story, and I love every damn second of it.

CBS has given two more of its new shows the go ahead for full seasons. The network has ordered additional episodes of Poppa’s House and NCIS: Origins. This means all four new scripted series currently on CBS’ lineup have been given full season orders.

In addition, the reboot of Matlock has already been renewed for a second season. It was renewed after airing just two episodes. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was given a full season order on Halloween.

Having NCIS as a lead-in and working with familiar characters (like Young Gibbs and Young Mike Franks) has worked well.

The new show from the NCIS Universe is based in 1991, years before Mark Harmon began playing Gibbs on NCIS.

Nothing gets adults moving faster than the thought of a small, innocent child snatched away from their parents. Maybe the team can finally function as a unit instead of one voice after another talking over each other.

Many viewers have commented that the team on NCIS: Origins lacks the same group effort that the sister series all have.

The new NCIS spinoff series NCIS: Origins is working to craft an authentic relationship between main characters Leroy Jethro Gibbs and his father Jackson Gibbs. However, some details depicted in Origins seem to stray from information given about the characters in the original NCIS series.

Origins portrays Gibbs and his father maintaining contact in the years after Gibbs’ wife and daughter are killed, which contradicts the original show suggesting the two had no contact for around 15 years after that tragedy. In a recent Origins episode, Jackson shows clear worry for his son’s wellbeing and even talks to Agent Mike Franks about removing Gibbs from dangerous field work. This depicts a level of ongoing involvement in each other’s lives that is inconsistent with their complete estrangement established previously.

An additional difference arises regarding when Jackson and Franks first met. While NCIS said this happened during a season 8 storyline, Origins...

What was being communicated to us was an extension of the ‘squeezed middle’ chat that dominated conversation in Edinburgh a few weeks ago. That confab’s chatter was focused on non-scripted, but these proclamations were concentrated on drama. Effectively, buyers are still looking for the odd splashy tentpole, maybe a buzzy limited series here and there, but are mainly beefing up catalogs with cheaper, higher-volume, bankable and returnable fare.

One thing is for sure, the probie is not looking to make friends on NCIS: Origins. For that matter, he seems even less concerned with doing things by the book. Protocol be damned.

Even though the series follows the classic case-of-the-week format, it does an incredible job of integrating everything into the main plot.

Since the cat is more or less out of the bag, we can finally discuss a central plot point of NCIS: Origins. Don’t worry, though – I’ll save it for the end.

A new prequel series to the popular NCIS franchise is in development. Titled “NCIS: Origins,” the show will tell the story of how one of NCIS’ most famous agents, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, got his start in law enforcement. Set in 1991, the series follows Gibbs on his first day as a rookie agent with what was then called the Naval Investigative Service (Nis). Viewers will see Gibbs learn the ropes of being an investigator and get a glimpse into his past that shaped him into the character fans know today.

If there is one thing CBS is good at, it’s keeping audiences in the dark about what’s in store for NCIS: Origins. The promo doesn’t do much in terms of details, but there’s plenty of intensity.

Considering the nature of the series, we have a lot of gunfire and standoffs ahead of us. So, what about the show sets it apart from any other procedural on television?

For one, NCIS: Origins gives fans of the franchise a look into the back story of a series vet. That’s expected given the show’s premise.

The NCIS: Origins series premiere was a fun surprise for long-time NCIS fans. The new prequel show aired its first two episodes on October 14, and the franchise took a new direction.

NCIS: Origins is set in 1991 and will tell stories about young Leroy Jethro Gibbs and young Mike Franks. NCIS fans know the duo well from the parent show, where their older version solved many cases.

Mark Harmon played Gibbs on NCIS; Austin Stowell now plays the younger Gibbs on NCIS: Origins. Sean Harmon (Mark’s son) used to play Gibbs in NCIS flashbacks, but he now serves as an executive producer of the prequel.

It seemed like Mark was done playing the character. Gibbs was retired to Alaska, and we last saw him bidding farewell to Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) after they enjoyed some fishing.

NCIS Origins has already proven itself to be a bit darker of a show than its predecessor. It also explores a much younger Leroy Gibbs who’s in a state fans aren’t used to seeing him in. The Tribute Came With The Start Of The Show’s Latest Season

The recent NCIS season premiere featured a note paying homage to crewmember George Schenck. The message wrote, “In Memory of our Dear Friend and Colleague George Schenck.” This was also paired with the message, “We will miss you.” The tribute came out with the Season 22 premiere, which aired on October 14.
