Dana is an anti-bullying/anti-girl drama advocate, hosting her own website which encourages pre-teens through young adults to share their advice and experiences, as well as providing resources and information.
In 2008, Dana was asked to audition for Despicable Me in November 2008. She was not able to do so due to her school camping trip. However, after her return she realized that the audition was still being held. She went into the office for the record. In December 2008, she voiced Edith in Los Angeles. Dana believes her character "Edith" in Despicable Me, is a strong-willed, tough girl with a big heart underneath who might serve to influence young girls in a positive way.
At the premiere of The Lorax, she stated that she saw the original 1972 adaptation in her biology class.
In 2012, Dana was featured in MTV and Firecracker Film's collaborative documentary "Bullied," singing and playing her original song on her guitar called "Take Control." In 2013, she reprised her role as the voice actor of Edith for Despicable Me 2. She then returned to the role in 2017 for Despicable Me 3, and she'll voice Edith once again in 2024 for Despicable Me 4.
