Her mother's ancestor, Henri LaMarre dit Belisle, was one of the original settlers of Detroit. Belisle was Detroit's first physician and surgeon after his arrival with the Cadillac party in 1701. Her family was recognized at the Detroit Tricentennial by Mayor Dennis Archer.
Her father's ancestor, Pilgrim George Soule, was a passenger on the Mayflower. He was a signer of The Mayflower Compact in 1620.
