Lily Shaw is a fiery, earthy, strong yet vulnerable actress; rescued and inspired by the make-believe world of movies at the age of 7. A first-generation South Asian-American, she's the first woman in her lineage to step away from tradition and carve out her own path as a creative artist. Lily has been called "a rising star," "phenomenal, funny, and believable," and "a truthful actor." She started her acting career with a national commercial, directed by Christopher Guest!
Her absolute favorite stage role was essaying the role of "Ms. Orange," (Tim Roth's legendary role) in an All-Female Adaptation of Terentino's "Reservoir Dogs."
Lily emigrated to the US with her family as a teenager and spent her early years in Sacramento. A National Merit Scholar, as a student, Lily won numerous awards for acting and debating; was a regular on Dean's Lists, and was featured in many local newspapers. Right from her first job as a Youth Counselor in EDD, Lily found herself in the position of standing up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves; and fighting for the underdog-- now fiercely standing for women's empowerment, and social justice
Lily is also an expert writer for Backstage magazine; has been published in Medium, Authority magazine, Voyage LA, ShoutOutLA, Seema, ThriveGlobal and others.
Favorite film roles include the lead role in US-Canadian feature 'Killer Punjabi,' Horror Series 'The Girl in the Woods,' - in which she played the role of Kal Penn's wife, and the lead role in 'All for Love,' a family comedy that explored the fun and the complex dynamics of interracial relationships.
A series of noteworthy stage performances include playing the role of spitfire woman 'Eliza' in 'What We're Up Against,' for Parrish & Co. Theater Company. She also played the dual roles of a spirited young and an angry old woman in 'The Alchemy of Imperfection,' and a 1920s headstrong daughter of a landlord in 'The Proposal.' She has also performed in Sonia Jackson's Vision of Possibilities play 'The Girls Talkin' in various roles!
She has most recently done voiceover work for Netflix's upcoming show 'Marshall.'
Lily has studied with acclaimed teachers like Natalie Roy, Jane Dashow, Amy Lyndon, Margie Haber, and Ivana Chubbuck, and Tasha Smith.
She's fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, and can s'peak Urdu. She trained in Kathak, Bhangara, and Bollywood dance styles as a child in India. She now trains in Jazz --- anything to get her groove on!
An "authentic," "vulnerable," "a great storyteller" and "inspirational" speaker, Lily strives to lead by example and empower audiences to use their voice, own their gifts, and authentically become who they were born to be.
In her free time, Lily loves to read, go for walks, meditate, and buy as many hats as she can!
