- Grew up in Enon, Ohio.
- Won the John Philip Sousa Award in 1998 for trumpet.
- He graduated from Greenon High School before attending Wittenberg University with plans to be a high school English teacher. He withdrew from college to pursue acting and filmmaking full-time.
- His short film, "Cost of Living," was accepted to the Short Film Corner of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

- Jarrod won a DayTony award for his 2022 performance of Dr. Montague in Shirley Jackson's acclaimed play, The Haunting of Hill House at the X*ACT Theater.
- His film The Zombie Defense (writer, producer, co-director and starring) was an official selection of the 2017 Garden State Film Festival in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
