Michael D. Ellison is an actor, Emmy® Award winning producer, and a music and spoken word recording artist. Born to parents living and working in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, before the family relocated to Reston, Virginia where he was raised, Michael fully realized his calling as an interdisciplinary artist in Detroit, Michigan. Also known professionally as Mike Ellison and MIKE-E, he's released independent music projects and headlined national tours, while registering acting credits that span film, theater and television. Michael earned an Emmy® as co-producer of "DETROIT: One Nation Under A Groove", a commercial music video promoting Detroit tourism and national unity.
With a Communications Degree from the University of Virginia, Michael began his career in sports and public relations. He's utilized the creative arts as a vehicle to promote charitable initiatives throughout the United States and his birth country. His father, the late journalist Bob Ellison, was the first African-American president of the White House Correspondents' Association.
