Laura Newman is an award winning filmmaker, composer and performer living in NYC. Her feature film comedy We Are The Hartman, starring Richard Chamberlain, was called, "A film that no one can afford to miss," by Film Threat.
As a producer and cinematographer, Laura worked on the Oscar nominated documentary Gasland. She's produced and written for MTV World, NYU, Oxfam, Wiley Publishing, the Bio Bus and many other companies, including a series of PSAs funded by a grant from New York State about EMS volunteering.
Laura has made countless short films for Reverend Billy's Church Of Stop Shopping, for which she is also lead singer and composer. She has directed music videos for The Matt Geraghty Project (including the "21 Days" of improvised music web-series), Farah Siraj, and The Human Experience. Her short films have been Official Selections of the Avignon Film Festival, Palm Spring International Shorts, Big Apple, Santa Fe and others.
Laura is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
