Lionsgate has renewed its long-standing film slate deal with Grindstone Entertainment Group after signing new agreements with Grindstone president and CEO Barry Brooker and principal Stan Wertlieb.

The new deal, set to run through 2027, will cover upcoming releases like action-thriller Alarum, starring Sylvester Stallone and directed by Mike Polish; Dito Montiel-directed Riff Raff, starring Jennifer Coolidge and Ed Harris and recently acquired in Toronto; Wish You Were Here, Julia Stiles’ directorial debut toplined by Isabelle Fuhrman, Kelsey Grammer, Jennifer Grey, and Mena Massoud; and prolific genre director Brian Skiba’s The Gunslingers, starring Stephen Dorff, Nicolas Cage, and Heather Graham.

Lionsgate last re-upped its near-17 year deal with Grindstone in 2020 and before that in 2017.

Lionsgate is set to give the thriller Clear Cut, which stars Clive Standen of the Taken TV series, Tom Welling (Smallville), Stephen Dorff (Blade), and Alec Baldwin (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation), a theatrical, digital, and VOD release on July 19th – and with that date just a few weeks away, a trailer for the film has arrived online. Brian Skiba directed Clear Cut (formerly known as Cold Deck) from a screenplay by Joe Perruccio, who earns his first feature writing credit on this film. The Hollywood Reporter let us know that the story centers on Jack (Standen), who tries to leave his past behind him when he starts a logging job but finds that a team of criminals with a score to settle are out to kill him.

Lionsgate releases director Brian Skiba’s thriller feature theatrically and via digital and on-demand on July 19. Clive Standen, Lucy Martin, Jesse Metcalfe and Tom Welling also star in the movie that centers on Jack (Standen), who tries to leave his past behind him when he starts a logging job but finds that a team of criminals with a score to settle are out to kill him.

“Logging is the deadliest profession in the world,” Baldwin warns Standen in the trailer. “Sure you want to get into this line of work?”

Later, Baldwin is skeptical of Standen’s ability to keep up in the profession. “I had a greenhorn like you once before,” Baldwin tells him. “Couldn’t make it through his first day without screwing up.

Nicolas Cage, Heather Graham and Stephen Dorff are set to star in the western ‘The Gunslingers’.

Written and directed by filmmaker Brian Skiba, the film will also star Costas Mandylor (Saw), Scarlet Stallone (Tulsa King), Tzi Ma (The Farewell), and Randall Batinkoff (Dead Man’s Hand).

The story is set in a rugged town named Redemption. Having starred in only his first Western films in the last few years with “The Old Way” and “Butcher’s Crossing,” Nicolas Cage is doubling down on the genre, having teamed up with Heather Graham (“The Hangover”) and Stephen Dorff (“True Detective”) for “The Gunslingers.”

Costas Mandylor (“Saw”), Scarlet Stallone (“Tulsa King”), Tzi Ma (“The Farewell”), and Randall Batinkoff (“Dead Man’s Hand”) also star in the film, which is being launched in Cannes with Brilliant Pictures handling international sales. Grindstone has U.S. rights to the film.

Just don your imaginative hats and imagine for a second that you just got hitched by a beautiful woman that you’ve been eyeing for a while. You two decide to leave your old hamlet behind and travel to Nevada to earn a better living. Unfortunately, the one above has a different plan in mind and throws you and your newlywed wife into a life-or-death situation. This is exactly the premise of Brian Skiba’s latest flick, Dead Man’s Hand. The film follows the story of newlyweds Reno and Vegas, who get locked in a relentless battle against the town’s Mayor for killing his brother in self-defense.

Best New Filmmaker winner Ortega claimed a 3,000 Anthony Rhulen grant, with numerous other winners nabbing grants of 2,000. Exclusive: Doc10 today announced its first-ever awards program, which this year will honor documentary filmmakers N. Bird Runningwater and Jessica Devaney.

The inaugural Luminary Award, celebrating filmmakers that shine a light on vital social issues, will be presented to Runningwater, who has supported such films as Billy Luther’s Miss Navajo and Heather Rae’s Trudell. The Vanguard Award, created to honor innovative and important documentary filmmakers, will be presented to Devaney, producer of some 17 shorts and features, including 2021 Doc10 selection Pray Away.

“The inaugural Luminary and Vanguard Awards were born to celebrate and promote the power of independent filmmaking,” said Doc10 co-founders Steve Cohen and Paula Froehle. “Jess and Bird represent the now and the future of great, cinematic documentary producing and how independent, fearless storytelling can promote real change in our world.” The 7th Doc10 documentary film festival will run from May 19-22 at the Davis Theatre and the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago. Exclusive: Patricia Velasquez (The Mummy) will exec produce and star in the sci-fi thriller Space Racer, from writer-director Erik Bernard (Free Dead or Alive), with NFTs related to the film to be released by Karman Studios at the Cannes Marché du Film.

The pic from Bernard’s Rebel 6 Films and Gemini Films takes place in the year 2084. It finds Earth beginning to look to space for survival, at a point when it’s barely able to sustain human life. At this juncture, humans have contacted alien race, with pilot James Colt earning the opportunity to represent Earth in its first intergalactic race.

Bernard and Lyndon Tait wrote the script for the pic, which is intended to set up a trilogy. Kevin Grevioux (Underworld) is producing, with Velasquez, Bernard and Courtney LeMarco (Hoarders) exec producing, and Jasmin Espada (Free Dead or Alive) serving as co-producer. Day Labor watches as a Latin American veteran seeks work as a day laborer in order to keep his family afloat. A regular day turns into a deadly game of survival when he is mistakenly dropped off at a private ranch in El Paso, Texas to be hunted for sport. R. Ellis Frazier directed the pic, which stars Amy Johnston, Louis Mandylor and Danny Arrory.

Director Brian Skiba’s Out of Hand is a thriller centered on Valerie (Louise Linton), a charismatic and sophisticated college professor who is married to a younger personal trainer heartthrob, David (Pierson Fode). When the couple leaves town to a secluded cabin in Lake Tahoe, things start to unravel. William Baldwin, Joana Metrass , David Wachs and Christy St. John also star.

Then, there’s Deadly Games, in which four female influencers are invited to paradise island to partake in a million-dollar opportunity by a crypto mogul, fighting to gain the most subscribers during their weekend for the paysite contest. Exclusive: Lost Souls collaborators John F. Uranday and Bobby Cloud will be bringing their new indie drama Depth of Field to Cannes’ Marché du Film.

The film directed by Uranday tells the story of Charles (Rafael Petardi), a widower who has given up on life, until he meets a foster child next door that changes his life forever. It also stars George Stroumboulopoulos (The Communist’s Daughter), Jay Acovone (Fox’s Lethal Weapon), Carrie Quinn Dolin (Bruce Almighty), Ella Thomas (NCIS: Los Angeles), Diana Diaz (Music) and Thea Saccoliti. Exclusive: Freestyle Digital Media has acquired North American rights to the romance Bristol Fashion, with plans to release it across internet and satellite platforms on June 7th.

The film tells the story of a young transgender woman, Christina (Lea Nayeli), who escapes her troubled home to find solace in a dilapidated boatyard. When she buys a broken-down boat for that purpose, she gets more than she bargained for in the boat’s owner, Esteban (Raul A. Perez)—warm, funny and dying to take her to dinner. He gives her a place to stay on an abandoned barge and helps her fix up the boat, and slowly but surely, they find themselves navigating the sometimes-messy waters of a straight man falling for a trans woman.

Exclusive: Deadline has a new trailer for Lisa Hepner and Guy Mossman’s feature doc The Human Trial, which Abramorama is releasing in North American theaters and on its Watch Now @ Home virtual cinema platform on June 24th.

More than a decade in the making, the film follows a groundbreaking clinical trial that peels back the headlines to show the sweat, passion and sacrifice behind every breakthrough cure. In 2011, Hepner and her husband Mossman heard about a radical stem cell treatment for diabetes, a disease that shockingly kills more than five million people each year. Driven by a desire to cure Lisa of her own type 1 diabetes, the filmmakers were given unprecedented access to a clinical trial—only the sixth ever stem cell trial in the world. Hallie and Audrey McPherson will be bringing their dramedy Earthquake Country to Dances With Films on Saturday, June 18th at 7:15 p.m. Pst.

Filmmaker Alex Proyas‘ production outfit Heretic Foundation and development company Mystery Clock Cinema this week announced a co-production/financing partnership with the UK-based 108 Media, which has launched worldwide sales and packaging on his latest feature, the horror Sister Darkness.

The female-driven film marking the first of several forthcoming collaborations between the parties is set in the UK in the 1930s—at a time when women were marginalized and exploited. It follows the newly-wed but unhappy Alice as she stumbles across her doppelgänger Isla, whose existence is a mystery seeped in a tale of bloody retribution against her oppressors, the hellish supernatural nightscape, and a dread uprising against the deceitful aristocracy. Pic will go before camera in Australia later this year.

Proyas negotiated his multi-faceted deal with 108 Media’s CEO Abhi Rastogi and President (Production) Justin Deimen, with support from Rod Smith and Steven Rosser (Legal Counsel), General Manager & Executive Producer Andrew Robinson, Studio Producer Erasmo (Raz) Raimundo, and Craig Emmanuel of Paul Hastings in Los Angeles.

Gkids has acquired North American rights to writer-director Atsuko Ishizuka’s first original feature Goodbye, Don Glees!. The distributor will release both the original Japanese-language version of the film and an all-new English-language dub in theaters this year, on the heels of the film’s February 2022 release in Japan.

The film produced by the acclaimed studio Madhouse follows the story of three friends over the course of one summer, as their backyard adventures turn one small incident into a life-changing journey. Husband and wife Alan B. and Dawn Bursteen are launching a new LA-based production company, Milestone Studios.

They plan to create original content and develop film adaptations from fiction and non-fiction novels, articles, autobiographical works, and other source materials to produce up to 12 films over the next two years through private equity financing with budgets ranging from $5M – $15M per title across genres.

Milestone has been active already, recently wrapping action-thriller Pursuit, starring Emile Hirsch and John Cusack, directed by Brian Skiba, to be distributed by Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Milestone also completed three westerns, The Desperate Riders, Last Shoot Out and Catch the Bullet, featuring Bruce Dern, Tom Skerrit, Trace Adkins, Tom Berenger, Cam Gigandet and Peter Facinelli. Our friends at Ammo Entertainment have been touring Brian Skiba's indie action flick Chokehold this month. The tour will end in New York City on the 28th and though we are a bit behind on the schedule if you are a fan of Mma fighter crossovers into film then you may want to check out Chokehold and its star, Mma fighter Melissa Croden. Also of interest to any Mlb fans out there, one of the film's executive producers is six-time all-star Kenny Lofton and he has been touring with the film. One-time Superman Dean Cain has made lots of Christmas movies, mainly with dogs in them. This year, we've watched even more...

Warning! This article contains spoilers, the kind of swearing you'd expect from someone who's sat through thirteen Dean Cain Christmas movies, and mild peril in the form of ailing sanity.

If you’re anything like me you might have some fairly warm, fuzzy memories of Dean Cain. He was Superman! He brought Superman back! Supes! So fun to watch on Saturday afternoons or after school, saving Metropolis from do-badders and waiting for Lois to notice him without his cape on just once.

Okay! Soooo, what has Cain been up to since The New Adventures Of Superman finished? I mean, sure, you saw him in an episode of that one show. And then there was that other time. More recently, he's had a role in Supergirl. Naturally!

Brian Ronalds and Dean Ronalds, more commonly known as the Ronalds Brothers, who produced the Brian Skiba directed Dirty Little Trick along with Brian Pulido’s The Graves; and directed the movie-come-iPhone app Here and Now have released more cast details and a hard-hitting new viral video for their next production, Sprawl.

Two and a Half Men’s Jennifer Taylor, Winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 13′s Nicole Fox, Michael Madsen, iCarly’s Danielle Morrow and Luke Eberl (Letters from Iwo Jima) have been cast in the film which comes from writer Domenic Migliore, who diagnosed with Aspergers at aged 10, here pens his first feature. Directed by Dean Ronalds (Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns) and produced by Tom Malloy & Brian Ronalds, Sprawl is a glimpse into the life of an outcast teenage girl that handles her deep seeded issues by turning the blade on herself and her body.

Brian Ronalds and Dean Ronalds, more commonly known as the Ronalds Brothers, who produced the Brian Skiba directed Dirty Little Trick (a film that stars Michael Madsen and Dean Cain, whose trailer we had the world exclusive of) which is finally hitting Us stores on November 15th, have announced their next production, Sprawl.

Directed by Dean Ronalds, produced by Tom Malloy and Brian Ronalds and written by Domenic Migliore, Sprawl is set to shoot in Hollywood, with casting underway now and a mid-October production start date in place. The brothers are very excited about Sprawl and “feel that this could be a break out film for them”.

Different from any of their previous movies: Netherbeast Incorporated, The Graves and Dirty Little Trick, Sprawl is a glimpse into the life of an outcast teenage girl that handles her deep seeded issues by turning the blade on herself and her body.

The director of Dirty Little Trick and friend of Blogomatic3000, Brian Skiba (pictured above with Michael Madsen on the set of Dirty Little Trick), has been in touch to let us know about his latest project on which he has joined up with Dean Cain for a second time in the thriller, Sweetwater. John Savage signed on to star in the role of Calvin along with special appearance by William Katt – up and coming star Holly Lynch will play the lead role of Joey.

Blood Moon Rising played at several film festivals before being released on DVD November 11, 2009. However, problems with the audio have forced a re-release through E1 Entertainment. A second release date has not been announced but fans of zombies, vampires, werewolves and more will get at least a small taste from these different genres, as can be seen in this original grindhouse-esque horror trailer. Check out the synopsis for this film that blends many elements together, including comedy, to create something original, but bizarre.

E1 Entertainment sent along info a bunch of genre titles for October release, and one will warm the hearts of those who can’t wait for the Twilight sequel New Moon to get their Robert Pattinson fix. The Haunted Airman (pictured), a British TV movie the actor made in 2006, will receive its U.S. DVDebut from the company.

Streeting Oct. 13, Haunted Airman was written and directed by Chris Durlacher, based on Dennis Wheatley’s novel The Haunting Of Toby Jugg. Pattinson stars as Jugg, an Raf pilot who’s wounded, winds up in a wheelchair and is sent to a remote hospital in Wales to recover. There, he begins suffering strange visions and dreams that lead him to question his sanity. Warlock’s Julian Sands co-stars; the movie will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital audio, and no special features announced. Retail price is $24.98.
