Award-winning filmmaker Athos Kyriakides has over 22 years of experience developing feature films and television drama series in Los Angeles, London, and South Africa. He has worked for a range of broadcasters, studios, and production companies, in script development, including October Films, Paramount Pictures, Momentum Pictures, Film Four, BBC Scotland, and The British Film Council. In 2014, he won 'Best Writing Team of a TV Drama Series' at the South African Film and Television awards (the SAFTAS) for Sci-Fi drama series, 'Room 9', as Head Writer. His writing portfolio includes many of South Africa's biggest shows like 'Isidingo', 'Scandal' and 'Generations: The Legacy'.
He co-wrote the documentary feature film 'Mandela's Gun' for British filmmaker John Irvin ('Dogs of War', 'Hamburger Hill) which won 4 awards at the Harlem International Film Festival, including Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Original Soundtrack. Most recently as show-runner Athos created, wrote, and directed 'Agent', a first season, 13 x 48', drama series about a football agent and his high maintenance superstar client, which premiered on Netflix in December of 2019. It has since been broadcast on SABC1 in South Africa, SBS in Australia and in French on Canal Plus International. 'Agent' was recently nominated by the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) for 'Best TV Drama' and won for Best Art Direction.
