James Woods plays a down on his luck con artist who teams up with retired fighter Louis Gossett, Jr. to score a huge win against a local mob boss in a high stakes boxing match in “Diggstown,” now available on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber. Michael Ritchie directs an impressive cast in this entertaining 1992 comedy. However, the MGM release never found its audience and underperformed at the box office upon its release.
The movie opens in Winfield Prison, Olivair County Georgia, where a fight is taking place in the common area with the full knowledge of the prison guards and Warden Bates (Marshall Bell). Wolf Forrester (Randall “Tex” Cobb) is fighting Minoso Torres (Alex Garcia) as Gabriel Caine (Woods) helps an inmate escape. Wolf ends up in the prison hospital after losing the fight and he and Gabe discuss their plans as fighter and promoter after they’re released.

According to Deadline, Samuel L. Jackson (Avengers: Age Of Ultron), John C. Reilly (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins) are all in early talks to star in Legendary Pictures' Kong: Skull Island. The site reports that Jackson would take over the role vacated by Jk Simmons, and Reilly tops a "small list" of actors that are being lined up to replace Michael Keaton. Wilkinson has apparently been offered a different lead role. Though the movie has been referred to as an origin story for the great ape, it's also been called a reboot and is not expected to tie into Peter Jackson's 2005 King Kong remake. The plot will focus on "a team of explorers venturing deep inside the treacherous, primordial island." Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce with Alex Garcia, and Eric McLeod is on board as exec producer. Universal Pictures will...

Warner Bros. has announced that director Gareth Edwards has officially started production on his Godzilla movie! Legendary Pictures teased the film at Comic-Con last year, and the fans went crazy for what they were shown! It definitely got my adrenaline pumping!
The movie officially stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston and it was also announced that Inception and Batman Begins co-star Ken Watanabe has joined the cast!
They really pulled together a great cast for this movie and I'm excited to see what the finished product is going to look like! I'm especially excited for it because the script was worked on by Frank Darabont, which means we're going to see a solid story with great dialogue.
Here's some more info from the press release:
The companies also announced that principal photography began today on location in Vancouver.

Having made one of the finest directorial debuts in recent years with Monsters, Gareth Edwards has returned behind the camera for his sophomore feature, Godzilla.
Edwards is switching gears completely, moving from an incredibly low-budget independent film to one of the biggest blockbusters in development, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table. Smart money says this is going to be epic.
Production has now officially begun out in Vancouver. And with the official press release also comes the announcement that Ken Watanabe (Inception, Batman Begins) has joined the cast.
Watanabe is perhaps one of the best known Japanese actors beyond Japan’s shores, earning himself an Oscar nomination opposite Tom Cruise in Edward Zwick’s The Last Samurai. We had been hoping that Watanabe would be returning to the big screen in the now-defunct Akira adaptation, but getting to see him on board for...

As it grew dark, 87-year-old Bernice Novack decided to move her car into her garage. That was when Alejandro Garcia, who'd been hiding behind garbage cans near her driveway, says he snuck up behind her. "She looked at me and right away I hit her," Garcia told a jury, speaking through a Spanish interpreter. "She looked at me and she screamed." The dramatic testimony by the prosecution's star witness came in a sensational trial now underway in White Plains, N.Y., for the 2009 murders of Novack and her millionaire son Ben Novack Jr., once the owner of Miami Beach's storied Fountainbleau Hotel.
