Kibwe Dorsey
- Actor
- Producer
- Writer
Kibwe Dorsey was born October 24,1974 in Yonkers, New York to the late Garfield Dorsey Jr. and Mildred Dorsey (Still Living). The middle child of seven, Kibwe's passion for music was inspired by listening to the phenomenal singing voices of his parents as a child, where his gift took root. He credits without question his abilities, talents, and grooming to his mother who was operatically trained and his father who was a member of an up and coming singing group in the "Duop Era". Fearful to sing publicly as a child, Kibwe would eventually overcome his fear as an adult and go on to have success as a Singer, Songwriter and Music Producer in the Music Industry.
No stranger to the entertainment and art worlds. His love for "Acting" began when his mentor, Juilliard Graduate, and accomplished theatre actor the (Late)Sydney Morgan Jr.(Morgan) asked him to play the role of" Detective Sampson" in Morgan's original stage play "To Lose Is to Gain". This theatrical opportunity would spark a new journey in Kibwe's life, prompting his being bit by "The Acting Bug". Kibwe has been quoted as saying ... "I love acting! If I could sum it up it, it would be the sister to singing. That's how close I feel to it".
As the Gasparilla International Film Festival 1st Ever "Got Talent" Winner Kibwe's Nominations include Creative Loafing "Best Local Actor", "Best Actor: Feature Film" by the International Christian Film Festival for "The Turnaround" and "Best Supporting Actor: Feature Film" by the International Christian & Music Festival for "Home Of The Brave".
In Kibwe's own words "there are so many gifted and talented people who never get a chance... So I don't take anything for granted and I'm thankful for every opportunity God allows me to receive".
