Now I wouldn’t typically review a Lifetime movie but… but… this particular film – The Au Pair Nightmare – is the feature debut of Joe Russo, the producer of the film Nightmare Cinema and a director whose short films have appeared on the likes of Crypt TV and Alter, as well as having his horror short Take-Out featured in the horror anthology Dark Deadly & Dreadful.
So we have a director who has mainly focused on the horror genre directing a film about an au pair. So far so huh? But then comes the films synopsis: “Trying to leave behind the memories of her fiancé, Taylor becomes an au pair for an out-of-state couple and their 8-year old daughter...

Doesn't it always seem like when one string of murders happens in a small town, inevitably another slew of murders will happen, maybe on the anniversary of the original crimes, maybe by a copycat killer. Always with some kind of link to the original brutality. And here we have that unfortunate situation happening again in Cider Springs Slaughter, the feature film due for release in April 2012.
Taylor McPartland and Danny Torres penned this film, also known as The Absents. Jason Durdon directs and it stars Austin Anderson, Chelese Belmont, Elizabeth Saydah, Mike Boyer, Ryan Watson and Wes Scarpias. Check out the trailer below. The story is reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine or even Scream. See what you think.

Synopsis
Thirty years ago the small town of Cider Springs was rocked by a series of brutal murders, for which the killer was never found.
