Gunnar Ryan Wiik born in Norway, September 23, 1981, also known as Ryan Wiik, is a filmmaker and seasoned entertainment entrepreneur who has launched highly innovative companies. He serves as Chairman & President of Kamara -- an entertainment conglomerate for the 21st century incorporated in Switzerland, set to build the first Major to be based in Europe, with its first self-contained production facility in Almeria, Spain. Kamara was envisioned by Wiik to provide much needed innovation to the entertainment industry -- by shifting the power into the hands of artists.
Wiik became known publicly after he led the growth and expansion of his initial companies, not as CEO, but as the lead actor and producer of a planned film-franchise from a start-up into a $100 million publicly traded company.
At the beginning of his career, Wiik had spent years building the franchise property where he was originally set to star in the title role -- Morgan Kane. He helped take the parent, WR Entertainment, public in 2016 on the Oslo Stock Exchange Merkur Market. The original investors that financed Wiik's development company in 2007 saw a return of more than 1000% at the entrance to public markets. As a result of dedication and artistic vision, the Morgan Kane property became a highly commercialized IP with unheard-of franchise potential, attracting both billionaires and A-list talent... before its machinations of corporate opportunism caused Wiik to step away from the project.
Thereafter, the Morgan Kane project -- ceased its trajectory to the screen, and IP rights were reverted to the authors' estate in 2020.
Since his departure from WR, Wiik was approached and agreed to collaborate with Indie Film, an award-winning independent producer of documentary features. A unit of filmmakers, have followed Wiik's work in building Kamara globally -- including Spain, Los Angeles and Switzerland covering a period going on several years to date, filming an intimate portrayal of Wiik's life story in the feature length documentary film titled "The Curse of Kane".
