Matt Gaffney is an actor, writer and stand up comedian.
He has performed in feature films, short films, stage plays, performances
and in comedy rooms across South East Queensland and Australia.
Having been exposed to the performing arts
from a very early age, his father involved in acting on stage and
screen, his mother as an accomplished pianist and many siblings
involved in music and performance in one way or another.
His first on stage performance was in the Hobbit in 1987 playing multiple roles as a Goblin, Elf and Hobbit. Since then he has in plays such as Macbeth, Death of a Salesman, Springs Awakening and The Laramie Project.
His background in film started in 2001 firstly as an extra playing a police officer in the Jonathan M. Shiff children television series Cybergirl (2001). Many extra roles soon followed which led him to enroll in a screen acting course to develop his skills further.
He has appeared in several short films funded by QPIX, student film films from QUT, Griffith, Bond University and films entered in Tropfest the largest Australian short film competition.
The first feature film credit was in Sweet F.A (2006). He has been involved in other QLD produced feature films, commercials and television series since then. He has performed stand up comedy and has entered in JJJ's Raw Comedy competition.
Studied film acting with the Film and Television Studio from 2005 - 2008 and has completed a Bachelor of fine arts/ drama with a minor in film at QUT Brisbane. Has a second dan black belt with Moon Lee Taekwondo.
