Nancy has earned the title of "Food Stylist to the Stars" creating the foods we have all seen on television, film, commercials and in print for the past 30+ years.
Nancy started her career in food by working in Los Angeles restaurants while in High School and then earned her BA degree in 3-Dimensional Art, with an emphasis in Set Design/Interior Design from California State University, Northridge. She then added certificates in Computer Graphics and Film Production. While in college, she worked for various catering companies where she honed her professional cooking skills. This propelled Nancy to start her own catering company, "Food Art" which ultimately transitioned into her successful food styling business of today.
Nancy's entry into the film industry was in the art department for Witt -Thomas Harris Productions. The shows included The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Nurses, Blossom, Herman's Head, Good and Evil and Walter and Emily. Her actual Food Styling career started with "being in the right place at the right time" when she received a call from one of her catering colleagues to fill in for a food stylist on Murder She Wrote at Universal Studios, Hollywood. She jumped in her car, did the job, and was hired to finish out the last four seasons. Then she was on her way. Nancy also simultaneously did some print food styling on Bon Appetit and Los Angeles Magazines and has published two cookbooks The Murder She Wrote Cast and Crew Cookbook and the Dining Out For Life Cookbook.
In addition to just the preparation and presentation of food, food styling includes menu planning, researching food history, styles of the period, and recipe development. All elements are pulled together to create consistent scenes that are shot several times over to get the perfect food shot, no matter the amount of takes.
Recent television and film projects include A Star is Born, Lessons in Chemistry and Based on a True Story.
