Along with husband, Victor Marke, convicted of 14 child sex offenses in May 2022 Both were found guilty of sexually abusing a 13 year old girl while working as martial arts instructors in the UK between 2005 and 2008.

In May of 2022, Zara Phythian was jailed for eight years at Nottingham Crown Court for the historical sexual abuse of a girl who was aged between 13 and 15. Phythian's husband Victor Marke was sentenced to 14 years' imprisonment for jointly abusing the same victim, as well as the indecent assault of a second girl.

In May 2022, Zara Phythian and husband were jailed for combined 22 years for abuse of underage girl. The couple were found guilty of 14 counts of sexual activity with a child after jointly grooming the girl. Phythian has been handed an eight-year sentence, while Marke has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
