Michael Croce(I)
- Actor
- Editor
- Producer
Michael Croce was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. As a young
boy Michael enjoyed experimenting with his Fisher Price PXL 2000 video
camera. As a teen, acting became a hobby for Michael performing in
numerous community theatre productions including The Impossible Years,
Arsenic and Old Lace, Bye Bye Birdie, and countless others. This
passion for acting led Michael to Queens College in the fall of 2001
where he registered for his first film class. He was instantly drawn to
the power of storytelling through film and the use of non-linear
editing machines. Michael's acting background became a powerful asset
for directing actors in shorts he produced while attending college.
After exhausting every class Queens College had to offer in production
and theory and winning the coveted Creative Production Award at
graduation, Michael decided to pursue a Master's Degree in the field of
production. He applied and was accepted to the MFA Film program at City
College in New York City where he worked in a collaborative environment
and was awarded the Most Valuable Person Award at graduation. Michael
produced and edited It Rises from the East (2007), which was the
recipient of Platinum Remi Award at World Fest Houston 2008 and an
official selection at the MIACC 2009 Film Festival in NYC. Michael also
produced Hush (2008), which was showcased at the Cinema Cum Laude at
Westchester's Jacob Burns Film Center and an official selection at the
Cambridge Film Festival 2008. Michael produced Reflection of Evil
(2008) and co-produced My Brother's Keeper (2007) being submitted for
competition at various film festivals; also in submission are Meet Me
At Geronimos (2009) a docu-comedy and Point Lookout (2009) a thriller
both written, directed and produced by Michael. In addition to
producing he has continued to pursue his love for acting by accepting
character roles in many of the films mentioned above ranging from a
domestically abusive husband to a police captain, Michael's acting
range is as extensive as his respect for the filmmaking process. His
passion and skill for every aspect of the process, whether it be
writing, directing, producing, editing or cinematography his ability to
complete each of these tasks makes him an asset to any production he is
a part of.
