Overall and first-look deals still drive the television business.
Although some mega-producers have moved to the streaming world, including Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes at Netflix, the overwhelming majority of pacts are still at the studio and linear network level. These deals help lock in show services, as well as keep the development pipeline flowing.
Here is a snapshot at most of the deals currently in place across Hollywood, as of mid-May.

For a short film, “Night Shift” has a backstory of its own which gives more than the film’s glimpse into a day in the life of a bathroom attendant in a Los Angeles nightclub.
Filmmaker Marshall Tyler’s “Night Shift”, stars Tunde Adebimpe and is executive produced by JuVee Productions, the company founded by Viola Davis and her husband Julius Tennon established to empower diverse voices and emerging artists. It is produced by Moira Griffin, Efuru Flowers and Roberta Marie Munroe.

Marshall and I had a long conversation at the Yarrow in Sundance the day of the premiere of his film.
Let’s start with who you are…

Recently I had a interview with the brilliant Kaylon Hunt, but don't take my word for it, be sure to check out Hero Story at the end of this article yourself! Everybody wants to be the hero, but do they have what it takes? Faced with his increasing popularity and demand to fulfill his responsibility as the new hero on the block, a young man wants to profess his love to his longtime girlfriend and reveal to her his super hero alter ego. Only, his plans are foiled when a new villain arrives and an unlikely ally intervenes. What made you want to do a superhero film? I wanted to do a superhero story because the genre is very relevant to me and is something I think everyone can relate to, even if they aren’t generally a fan. I grew up on comic books and after-school cartoons. From Dragonball...

Why Watch? Incredibly fun, this homage brings the Zaps! and Pows! of comic book pages directly onto the screen. There’s a bit of Scott Pilgrim design flare here, but it’s definitely its own animal – delivering a nervous man behind a mask trying to tell his girlfriend that he loves her while dealing with the constant dangers that befall his city. The White Bolt has incredible speed, but he also has a dilemma. When a new threat uses villainy to make a name for himself, he renders our hero powerless, and Bolt must save his girl and the day using only his quick wit. Cheekiness in full force, the short from Kaylon Hunt owns up to its cheesiness with engaging characters and a sunny twist on caped comic stories, appropriately adopting the trappings of 40s serials and making them brand new. What will it cost you? Only 15 minutes. Skip work. Watch...
