Dawn Harper(I)
Dr. Dawn is a GP based in Gloucestershire working at an NHS Surgery in
Stroud. Dawn has been working as a media doctor for nearly ten years
and her ability to simplify complex medical issues has made her an
extremely sought after medical commentator and expert.
Dawn is one of the presenters on Channel 4's hit series 'Embarrassing Bodies'. The series recently celebrated it's 100th episode and spin offs have included 'Embarrasing Fat Bodies', 'Embarrasing Teen Bodies' and the hugely successful 'Embarrassing Bodies: Live from the Clinic' which features live consultations given to patients in the comfort of their own home. The third series is on air in April 2013.
This series has won numerious awards including the Broadcast Award for Best Popular Factual Programme, the Broadcast Digital Award (twice), the prestigious international digital Emmy for Best Digital Programme, the BANFF World Media Award and the BAFTA Craft Award for Digital Creativity and for Interactive Creative Contribution (twice).
Dawn is a regular contributor on ITV1's 'This Morning' and also writes for a variety of publications including 'Healthspan', 'Healthy Food Guide' and 'Mother and Baby' magazine. Her first book 'Dr Dawn's Health Check' was published in 2007 by Mitchell Beazley.
Dawn is an excellent public speaker and is often booked to give key note presentations at conferences on a range of medical topics. She also regularly fronts medical corporate videos and is involved with health related PR activities and campaigns involving radio days and press briefings.
Dawn qualified in 1987 at London University. Wife to Graham, also a GP, and mother to Charlie, Eleanor and Harvey, when not working or being a mum Dawn is a keen horsewoman and a keen supporter of children's charities. For the last two years she has led a team of GP's on various cycling challenges, the latest of which she cycled from London to Brussels in aid of 100 Helping Hands.
