We’re introduced to Ben Grady, still reeling from the sudden death of his wife Sarah. Played by Grant Rosenmeyer, Ben sits numbly, having forgotten even basic needs in his grief.
When his concerned sister Gloria suspects the worst, Ben finds purpose through a chance online video. It shows a mysterious man appearing to fly, sparking Ben’s belief this “secret art” could help him.
Directed by H.P. Mendoza, The Secret Art of Human Flight tells the story of Ben’s journey to learn this impossible feat. Partnering with eccentric teacher Mealworm, played compellingly by Paul Raci, Ben undergoes strange training.
As Ben transforms, we glimpse his past through lovingly made home videos with Sarah. Guided by Mendoza’s empathy, Ben works through raw anguish to a richer understanding of life, love, and finding clarity even in mystery. With quirky charm, this film takes us along as one man rediscovers...

Ben (Grant Rosenmeyer) is depressed. This is understandable. He used to be part of the team known as Sarah and Ben, famous for the Sarah and Ben books, but now there is no more Sarah and he seems to have no more purpose. What’s more, because she died of anaphylaxis, and has a sizeable insurance policy, there’s an ongoing police investigation in which he is a suspect, making it really hard for him to get any space. So he stays in bed, until his sister Gloria (Lucy DeVito) forces him out of it, still in his blanket, into a chair in the garden; and then he stays in his chair in the garden for three days. This, it is made clear to him, is not healthy. He needs to find something – anything – on which to focus so that he can reconnect with the world.
Of course, when he does.
Of course, when he does.

He stumbles upon a self-help book titled "The Secret Art of Human Flight" written by an enigmatic guru named "Mealworm" – who also shows up at his door when he orders the book. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman don’t need to live together to make their marriage work. In fact, even though they have lived separately for years they are seemingly closer than ever. The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor opened up the couple’s unconventional marriage in an interview with Fox News Digital, where he was promoting his new comedy film Poolman, which opens in theaters today, Friday, May 10. “We’re doing great,” DeVito said of his relationship with his former Taxi co-star. “We’re sharing our granddaughter, our new granddaughter, and we see each other all the time.” DeVito and Perlman, who played boyfriend and girlfriend in Taxi and married parents in 1996’s Matilda, tied the knot in 1982. They went on to have three children: Lucy Chet DeVito, Grace Fan DeVito (born March 1985), and Jacob Daniel DeVito (born October 1987). They are also grandparents to Sinclair Lucille DeVito, who turned one back in March.

Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger has shared a photo on his Instagram posing with his ‘Twins’ co-star Danny DeVito, 79, and DeVito’s daughter Lucy DeVito, 40, on the set of their Broadway play ‘I Need That’.
“My brother! It was fantastic to see Danny on Broadway in ‘I Need That’,” Schwarzenegger wrote in a caption to the photo, reports People magazine.
Arnold further mentioned: “He and Lucy and everybody involved kept the audience entertained, laughing and loving every minute – one of the best plays I’ve ever seen, a true spectacle with heart!! I can’t wait to work together again.”
Schwarzenegger and DeVito famously co-starred in 1988’s ‘Twins’, a buddy comedy that centred around the pair as genetically engineered fraternal twins separated at birth.
The movie grossed $111 million at the domestic box office upon its release and was the fifth highest-grossing film released that year, per Box Office Mojo.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito had a Twins reunion when Schwarzenegger attended DeVito’s Broadway play I Need That.
Schwarzenegger shared a photo with DeVito and daughter Lucy DeVito on social media Friday.
“My brother!” Schwarzenegger wrote in the caption. “It was fantastic to see Danny on Broadway in I Need That. He and Lucy and everybody involved kept the audience entertained, laughing and loving every minute — one of the best plays I’ve ever seen, a true spectacle with heart!! I can’t wait to work together again.”
Twins starred Schwarzenegger and DeVito as genetically engineered siblings who don’t meet until adulthood, then undertake a road trip.
The two were attached to a Twins sequel titled Triplets (in which the brothers would discover they’re actually triplets), but the project was scuttled when Twins director Ivan Reitman died in 2022.
Earlier this year, DeVito shot down a Twins reunion in an interview with GQ.

In a recent interview with GQ, Danny DeVito discussed the possibility of reuniting with his “Twins” co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger on a project.
DeVito shared that he and Schwarzenegger want to work together again, but this new project would be separate from “Twins,” the 1988 comedy where the two portrayed fraternal twin brothers separated at birth.
“We missed ‘Twins 2,’ because he became governor — which, he should have done ‘Twins 2’ instead of becoming governor,” DeVito quipped. “Now we have a little thing going, a little project that we’ve been chatting about.”
Schwarzenegger served as the 38th governor of Calif. from 2003 to 2011. When asked if “Twins” was related to this new project, DeVito replied, “No, it’s just two friends, two guys, because we have a good time together. We complement each other in a lot of ways. I am way stronger than he is.”

Is one man’s trash really another man’s treasure? That’s the ultimately undramatic question that undergirds Theresa Rebeck’s new play, I Need That, about a hoarder who can’t let go of piles of decades-old magazines, stacks of old suitcases, and more. Which is to say, he can’t let go of the past. Written for comedy legend Danny DeVito and his daughter, Lucy DeVito, I Need That is a vehicle built for two that mostly just spins its wheels.
While his collections of odds and ends do seem, at the very least, like a tripping hazard, the lonely Sam (Danny DeVito) does appear to have genuine meaningful stories about most of the items he’s saved—when he can find them within the mess, that is. Once we discover, early on, that all the books clumped beneath the window and the clothes covering the couch belonged to his late wife,...

Preview performances for Broadway’s I Need That starring Danny DeVito begin tonight, and already the limited engagement has been extended by a week.
Roundabout Theatre Company said the extension through December 30 was due to popular demand. The play officially opens at the American Airlines Theatre on November 2.
Written by Theresa Rebeck and directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, I Need That also features DeVito’s daughter Lucy DeVito and Ray Anthony Thomas.
The synopsis: Sam (Danny DeVito) doesn’t get out much. Actually, he doesn’t get out at all, opting instead for the safety of his house in the company of his things – his many, many things. But when a notice from the government arrives alerting Sam that he must clean up his property or face eviction, he’s forced to reckon with what’s trash, what’s treasure, and whether we can ever know the difference between the two.

The gang on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" are a pretty tight-knit group with a long, complicated family history. At some point or another, most of the gang have claimed Frank (Danny DeVito) as their father, and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Dennis (Glenn Howerton) as twins. The cast have their own family connections too, as Olson is married to series creator and the man who plays Mac, Rob McElhenney, and the other guys have each had their spouses on the show! Charlie Day, who plays Charlie, is married to The Waitress (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), while Howerton's wife Jill Latiano made an appearance in season 5 and DeVito's wife Rhea Pearlman finally had a cameo in season 16. It's truly a family affair on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and in the latest season, another member of the extended "Sunny" family made his first appearance.

Just as she starts to get close to living the ultimate dream in La La Land, things become complicated when Abby meets Jake, a waiter with big dreams of his own, who offers a fresh perspective. The TV academy has honored voice-only performances since 1992, when six cast members from “The Simpsons” collectively became the first actors to receive Emmys for such work. The Best Voice-Over Performance category became an official non-juried one in 2009 and was then split into two categories in 2014: Best Character Voice-Over and Best Narrator. Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”) was the former category’s first champion, having been nominated once before for the same series.
The 2023 Best Character Voice-Over ballot consists of 148 performances, which is down by 74 from last year. The Secret Art of Human Flight has numerous creative elements and themes that it tries to touch on.
Rosenmeyer described the film to uInterview founder Erik Meers as “a comedy-drama dealing with grief that also incorporates elements of fantasy and magical realism.”
The film focuses on Rosenmeyer’s character, Ben Grady, who is dealing with grief as he recently lost his spouse. Rosenmeyer explained how, “this particular guy ends up on the dark web where he comes across a self-help book written by a guru who calls himself Mealworm whose played by the Academy Award nominee Paul Raci, the amazing Paul Raci. When we meet Ben Grady (Grant Rosenmeyer), he can barely lift himself out of the living room chair. By the end of this lo-fi indie drama, he’s soaring among the clouds like some kind of schlubby superhero — or one of those kids from “Chronicle” — having mastered what “The Secret Art of Human Flight” calls … well, you heard the title. Maybe not “mastered” exactly, but Ben’s finally getting the hang of it, and that’s exhilarating, since flying couldn’t be farther from the state we found him in earlier, wallowing in melancholy after the unexpected death of his wife Sarah (Reina Hardesty).
As presented by director H.P. Mendoza, Ben and Sarah were practically the cutest couple you could imagine. They published children’s books together and made video diaries for their followers on TikTok, which Ben insisted they turn into a kind of insurance policy so that each...

San Francisco microbudget filmmaker H.P Mendoza is bringing his Bay Area sensibilities to Tribeca.
The filmmaker best known for “Colma: The Musical” about the small town in San Mateo County, California is now turning his camera on a subject less musical but still as likely to become weirdly contagious: the pursuit of self-help. “The Secret Art of Human Flight” premieres at the Tribeca Festival this month, and IndieWire below shares the exclusive first trailer of the movie.
The cast includes Paul Raci, Oscar-nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2021 for his starring role in “Sound of Metal,” and he’s joined by cast members including Grant Rosenmeyer, Lucy DeVito, Nican Robinson, Reina Hardesty, Maggie Grace, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
Mendoza directs the film from a screenplay by Jesse Orenshein. Mendoza shot the film with “I Think You Should Leave” cinematographer Markus Mentzer.

Tyne Daly and Liev Schreiber will return to Broadway this winter in a revival of John Patrick Stanley’s play Doubt: A Parable.
The play, directed by Scott Ellis, is scheduled to begin performances in February 2024 at the American Airlines Theatre. Exact dates and additional castmembers will be announced at a later date.
This is the first Broadway revival of Stanley’s 2004 play, which was adapted into the 2008 film starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The story follows Sister Aloysius (Daly), a principal of an all-boys Catholic school in the Bronx, who suspects a relationship between Father Flynn (Schreiber) and a student. Aloysius must then figure out how to verify whether something has occurred, whether to confront either party about it and how she can reconcile that with her religious beliefs.

Of all the many villains in Gotham City's menacing menagerie, the Penguin is one of the strangest. The character of Oswald Cobblepot, the stout and menacing crime lord with a penchant for penguins, has been portrayed by a handful of actors, including Burgess Meredith ("Batman" '66), Robin Lord Taylor ("Gotham"), and Wayne Knight ("Harley Quinn"), but the two most people think of as the Dark Knight villain are Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell. DeVito played the Penguin in Tim Burton's "Batman Returns" in 1992 and Farrell played the character in Matt Reeves's "The Batman" in 2022. With 30 years between the characters and two very different takes, it's really tough to tell which Penguin was truly the greatest.
In a Vanity Fair polygraph interview with his daughter, Lucy DeVito, to promote their animated series "Little Demon," Danny DeVito was asked which Penguin performance he thought was better, between him and Collin Farrell.

Ana de Armas had zero difficulty finding streams of research to play Marilyn Monroe in Blonde. But learning what drove Norma Jean, the delicate and insecure woman behind the public persona, was an entirely different challenge.
“It was important to find the emotional truth in this character,” she said Saturday at Deadline’s The Contenders Film: Los Angeles. “One of the biggest themes in this movie is the private and public self. Norma Jean was completely unseen. I wanted to capture the essence of that woman, to find the human underneath. It was a long process studying her and her films, to understand what she was feeling at all times, always thinking that Norma for the most part never thought she could live up to Marilyn. What people thought of her was not at all what she felt like.”

The series: "Little Demon"
Where you can stream it: Hulu
The pitch: Thirteen or so years ago, partying pagan Laura (voiced by Aubrey Plaza) hooked up with the prince of darkness himself, Satan (voiced by Danny DeVito). Nine months later she gave birth to the Antichrist, and named her Chrissy. Now Chrissy (voiced by Lucy DeVito) has hit her teen years, and despite Laura's attempts to keep her safe from her dear old dad, Satan has re-entered the picture. He wants a chance to be a part of Chrissy's life, and while Laura doesn't trust him, she wants to try and give Chrissy a bit more freedom after years on the run.

The Netflix film “Blonde” has received its first reviews, and critics are celebrating Ana de Armas’ commitment to the role while questioning the techniques of the film itself.
Directed by Andrew Dominik and rated Nc-17, the film adapts Joyce Carol Oates’ novel of the same name. Alongside de Armas, cast members include Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Garret Dillahunt, Julianne Nicholson, Sara Paxton, Lucy DeVito and Scoot McNairy.
Some critics appreciate the different approach to the biopic of the woman born Norma Jeane Mortenson. Others find the mostly black and white film devoid of any resonance as to the bigger picture of who Marilyn Monroe actually was as a person.

After viewing the premiere episode and catching up with the cast and crew of Fxx’s “Little Demon” during their panel at San Diego Comic Con we felt the series was both entertaining and smartly written. There has been a lot of hype built around the upcoming film, Blonde, which is to be a look into the tragic life of actress Marilyn Monroe. From the casting decision of Ana De Armas – who has shown to be a really good doppelganger, but some are struggling with hints of her accent still peeking through – to the Nc-17 rating the film has received from the MPAA, many are curious about the film for numerous reasons.
Recently, Armas sat down with L’Officiel to discuss how the Nc-17 rating shouldn’t be a stigma. Despite the film being available online for streaming, the rare rating usually indicates that no one under 17 years old is not allowed in any fashion to view the movie in the theater, as opposed to an R rating where viewers under 17 can still attend with an adult present. Usually, such a rating is given if there is explicit sexual content presented.

Danny DeVito dropped a brrrr-utally honest take on Colin Farrell's Penguin performance. When Vanity Fair hooked DeVito up to a lie detector and had his own daughter Lucy DeVito ask him some very pointed questions about the Batman cinematic universe, the legendary actor, who played Penguin in 1992's Batman Returns, couldn't help but speak his truth! "What about this Penguin?" Lucy asked, while sliding over a photo of Farrell, who played Penguin in 2022's The Batman. "I love Colin. He's a terrific guy," Danny said. "My Penguin was better." Danny then chuckled and asked the test administrator, "Was I telling the truth?," to which she responded,...

When it comes to comparing Batman villains from the Dark Knight’s various screen incarnations, Danny DeVito is making a bold declaration about his version of the Penguin vs. the one portrayed by Colin Farrell in “The Batman”.
The “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star sat down for a lie detector test with Vanity Fair, alongside daughter Lucy DeVito.
For one of the questions, DeVito was asked to offer his assessment about how Farrell’s portrayal stacked up to his own, in Tim Burton’s 1992 “Batman Returns”.

Executive produced by Rick and Morty and Community‘s Dan Harmon, the new Fxx animated comedy series Little Demon blends elements of Rosemary’s Baby, The Omen, Dogma and Family Guy into an engaging and hilarious stew of sacrilegious silliness. The story chronicles the relationship between Satan (Danny DeVito), the Earthly woman he impregnated, single mother Laura (Aubrey Plaza), and their 13-year-old Antichrist daughter Chrissy. As one can imagine with a family this non-traditional, chaos reigns…as does the non-stop threats posed by demons and Old Scratch himself, who yearns to possess his spawn’s soul.
The show itself is among the year’s most engaging animated efforts, buoyed by its stellar voice acting. At our Den of Geek Suite at San Diego Comic-Con last month, we had the opportunity to chat with Aubrey Plaza and the DeVitos about everything from the allure of evil to the difficulties of doing voicework...

In the premiere of Fxx’s animated comedy Little Demon, Chrissy Feinberg (Lucy DeVito) discovers she’s the spawn of Satan. Literally: Her human mom, Laura (Aubrey Plaza), fucked the Devil (Danny DeVito, Lucy DeVito’s real-life dad) 13 years ago, and Chrissy was the result. Now her dad’s finally tracked them down, and as Chrissy warily lets him into her life, she finds herself increasingly torn between the ordinary teen girl life she thought she wanted and the apocalyptic dreams her father’s offering her — all the while trying to figure out who she really is as her own person.
It’s a tension echoed, with some corresponding awkwardness, in the show itself. In the first three half-hour episodes sent to critics, Little Demon can be wobbly in balancing its impish sense of humor and squishy sense of heart, its otherworldly shenanigans and its more grounded emotions.
