Mexican director and screenwriter Alejandro Zuno graduated from the prestigious Film School of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He won the Mexican Academy Award Ariel for Best Live Action Short Film with his film Oasis, which also won other prizes and it was part of the official selection at more than 30 film festivals around the world.
In 2020 his film Open the Earth was nominated by the AMACC as Best Documentary Short. This film won the major prizes at Shorts Mexico and Literally Short Film Festival among others.
With Ernesto Contreras, Zuno directed Tengo que morir todas las noches, first LGBTIQA+ Mexican TV series and winner of the Best Direction Prize at Series Mania.
Newborn is Zuno's first feature film.
