Here’s the thing about Deadpool: he knows that he’s in a movie. So he’s probably aware that his long-awaited first MCU entry Deadpool & Wolverine has finally been screened to critics and that those critics are sharing their thoughts about the movie on social media. But is he reading the tweets and jumping in joy or blowing himself up a la Deadpool 2? The studio betting big on the character’s latest theatrical outing is definitely hoping it’s the former.
After the relative box office and critical failures of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, Deadpool & Wolverine is the sole Marvel movie making it to theaters this year (unless we count Sony trash such as Madame Web). Marvel hopes that star Ryan Reynolds and his Deadpool will help turn the tide of superhero fatigue and make the MCU the sensation that it once was.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Amazon Studios’ ambitious fantasy series based on the works of author J.R.R. Tolkien and reportedly the most expensive television series ever made, premieres Sept. 2 on Amazon Prime Video. But as the social embargo lifts, critics and fans who have seen the first two episodes ahead of time are flocking to Twitter to share their opinions on the highly anticipated series.
Eric Francisco, senior film/TV writer at Inverse, hailed “Rings of Power” as “big, bold and beautiful” but indicated uncertainty as to whether the prequel series will “sit alongside” Peter Jackson’s film trilogy or “deserve Tolkien’s name.”
“For now, it’s all the maximalist pizazz one might expect from a historically expensive production,” he wrote.
I've seen #RingsofPower and I can say for certain you're in for a treat. Big, bold, and beautiful to behold. Tbd if it'll sit...

It’s time for a solo superhero movie like no other, and Marvel Studios is setting out to deliver just that with their new MCU Phase 4 entry Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12) directed, with Kim’s Convenience star Simu Liu cast as Shang-Chi, a skilled martial artist who is trying to live a normal life in San Francisco despite being trained at a young age to be an assassin by his father Wenwu (Tony Leung). The movie examines Shang-Chi’s origins but in the present day we see him get drawn further into the clandestine Ten Rings organization, and he is ultimately forced to confront the past he thought he left behind.
Along with Chloé Zhao’s Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is one of Marvel’s 2021 blockbuster gambles.

Margot Robbie‘s Birds of Prey may not be in theaters yet, but it’s already getting rave reviews from the critics who’ve seen it.
The film, which comes out on Feb. 7, stars Robbie as Harley Quinn after her breakup with the Joker and, on a ride to find herself, she joins a group of female superheroes on a mission to save a young girl from a crime lord, Black Mask, played by Ewan McGregor.
Birds of Prey is the spinoff to 2016’s Suicide Squad, which saw Robbie star as Quinn — although it’s safe to say the indomitable...

Each of the trailers for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum have been met with a glowing response on social media, and now that the film’s first critic reactions have surfaced, it’s beginning to look like the movie might well live up to the hype.
Predictably enough, much of the praise is directed at the set pieces, suggesting that Chad Stahelski’s trilogy-closer is going to continue the franchise’s run as one of the most stylish action properties of recent years. What’s more, it sounds like the upcoming flick is going to deliver some serious canine action that will bring the whole series full circle.
#JohnWick3 is Awesome. Some of the action set pieces are so insane you’ll wonder how director Chad Stahelski and his team filmed them. Saying that, the @Halleberry/#KeanuReeves set piece featuring her dogs might be my favorite. Wait till you see this one.

The output of Glass helmsman M. Night Shyamalan hasn’t always earned the most affectionate of responses, with his run from 2004’s The Village to 2013’s After Earth yielding one critical dud after another. Nonetheless, if the reception to 2015’s The Visit was mixed-to-positive, 2017’s Split officially put the filmmaker back in the good graces of critics. And when the James McAvoy-led horror hit teased a subsequent crossover with 2000’s Unbreakable, it looked like Shyamalan was all set to keep the momentum going.
Sadly, it appears as if the filmmaker’s triumphant comeback may have hit a snag, with early reviews of Glass suggesting a messy and dated work. Just take this new write-up from Inverse’s Eric Francisco, who suggests that the long-awaited follow-up to Unbreakable has come along many years too late:
“The point Shyamalan makes is that superheroes dominate our culture so much we now think...

Though Daniel Craig’s final outing in the role of James Bond is still well over a year from reaching our screens, the subject of who’ll be next to inherit the 007 title has spawned many a rumor, prediction, and debate in these last few months. And while Tom Hiddleston has been cited as a favorite in recent weeks, the internet has now offered an alternative suggestion in the form of a relative newcomer to Hollywood.
Henry Golding’s big screen experience may not go much beyond this year’s turns in Crazy Rich Asians and A Simple Favor, but as the cover star of the new GQ issue, the British-Malaysian actor and his suave photo shoot have earned Twitter’s attention, with several fans arguing that he has the looks and the charm to take carry the Bond name:

He has been haunting moviegoers’ dreams and crushing model cities for over 60 years now, but much about Godzilla remains mysterious even today, after all those movies, TV shows, and comic books. For instance, does the giant, rampaging lizard have a penis? And, if not, what’s the explanation for that son he had back in 1967? At Inverse, writer Eric Francisco has assembled a dossier about this apparently vital issue, but the evidence is, to put it mildly, inconclusive and contradictory. Though Toho, the studio where Godzilla began his career in 1954, has tried to maintain some control over the character over the decades, the franchise has been rebooted several times, and different storytellers have used the big scaly guy toward various purposes during that time. In other words, there isn’t just one “definitive” Godzilla. He is large and contains multitudes. For that reason, Godzilla’s penis may ...
