LA-based, internationally acclaimed celebrity stylist and costume designer Johnny Wujek belongs to the new crop of fashion stylists and costume designers who make their own headlines. Johnny is the creative force and mastermind behind many pop idols and artists red carpet looks including Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Kim Kardashian, Amber Heard, Shakira, Brittany Spears, Kate Mara, Laura Marano, Bella Thorne, and Zac Efron to name a few. Johnny's work is versatile, elegantly original and envelope-pushing.
This multi-tasking professional was handpicked by Tyra Banks to serve as America's Next Top Model creative consultant and celebrity judge for season 19 and 20 as well as for Project Runway All Stars. Johnny has costume-designed global campaigns with legendary photographers Mario, Testino, Terry Richardson, Ellen Von Unwerth, and David LaChapelle. Johnny was also a key mem- ber of the E! Style Collective in 2015, co-hosted E! News Live from the red carpet for both the Met Ball and the Academy Awards.
In 2015, Johnny costume-designed the now infamous looks for Katy Perry's halftime show for the Super Bowl XLIX. The Guinness World Records announced that the show garnered 118.5 million viewers in the United States, and became the highest-rated halftime show for network broadcast in Super Bowl history.
Johnny has worked on editorials for print publications like Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, WWD and Harper's Bazaar to name a few. He has styled commercials, movies, fashion editorials, The Gram- mys, numerous music videos and campaigns for major fashion brands. Johnny was a celebrity fashion stylist for Vogue TV in 2006, played himself on the hit HBO show Girls in 2016 and in 2018 starred on E! News' Snapchat first original fashion program called FACE FORWARD; which was the recipient of the 2018 Webby People's Voice Award for Social: Fashion and Beauty.
Initially, Johnny moved to LA from Detroit as a model but quickly transitioned to an assistant stylist on commercials and movie sets. He has spent 3 years on The Hollywood Reporters Top 25 List of Most Powerful Stylists and has been Katy Perry's stylist and costume designer since 2005. In 2017 he became the creative director of Katy Perry Collections. In 2019, Johnny began working as costume designer for Mariah Carey's 2019-2020 Caution Tour and Christmas Tour. In early 2020, Johnny was hired as costume designer for Legendary, HBOmax's glitzy new competition show about modern-day drag ball culture. Johnny's approach to style is a mix of fashion and comfort; it's simply a form of expressing his love for people.
