Back in 1968, George A. Romero made his feature directorial debut with one of the greatest horror movies ever made, Night of the Living Dead – and while doing so, he also introduced the world to flesh-eating ghouls that became a new definition for the world “zombie.” Romero, who passed away in 2017, went on to make several more zombie movies over the decades… and recently, his daughter Tina Romero revealed that she’s making her own feature directorial debut with a zombie movie called Queens of the Dead. Deadline reports that Charades has acquired the international sales rights to the project – and while doing so, they unveiled the first image from the film! You can check it out in this article.

Daughter of late director George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead), Tina Romero is making her own mark on the zombie genre with Queens of the Dead, and Deadline shares a first look image this week. Deadline also notes, “Charades has acquired international sales rights.”
Being directed by Tina Romero, the upcoming Queens of the Dead is said to pay tribute to George A. Romero’s brand of zombie cinema with a “fresh, contemporary, and queer twist.”
Stay tuned for U.S. release information.
Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding), Margaret Cho (Fire Island), Brigette Lundy-Paine (I Saw The TV Glow) and Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story) are set to star.

“Welcome aboard The Odyssey.”
On Wednesday, Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken asked audiences to investigate the macabre with their FX horror series, “Grotesquerie.” Shifting gears towards the more pleasant side of humanity, the same series creators premiered a new medical drama the following night called “Doctor Odyssey.” Starring Joshua Jackson as Dr. Max Bankman, his Yale-educated doctor is tasked with handling emergency medical cases aboard a luxury cruise ship.
In the opening few minutes of the show’s premiere, Dr. Bankman is introduced getting dressed for his first day of work to the tune of Smokey Robinson’s “Cruisin’.” Taking on a new job can often be an intimidating endeavor, but this doctor likes to wear Hawaiian shirts, and you just know he’s easygoing. Post-covid, he traverses the next phase of his life by boarding The Odyssey, a beautifully designed and cultured cruise liner filled with honeymooners and vacationing retirees.

It's become something of a Ryan Murphy fall on the small screen. The prolific producer who's brought us such generation-defining hits as Popular, Nip/Tuck, Glee, and American Horror Story has debuted quite a bit of new content this fall on Netflix and beyond.
First up, American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez made its premiere on FX and Hulu on Sept. 17, which led right into the Sept. 19 premiere of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story on Netflix. Since they arrived, both shows have been generating headlines, with Monsters rising to the peak of Netflix's most popular shows ranking and creating a lot of conversation online.
Next on Murphy's continued domination of television this season, two high-profile shows arrive on the same exact week. The brand-new horror series Grotesquerie will send a chill down your spine the day before the new procedural drama Doctor Odyssey sets sail. But where can...

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” is asking viewers to be the jury for the Menéndez brothers. The infamous Beverly Hills siblings murdered their parents in 1989, and were convicted in 1996, but today’s more comprehensive understanding of sexual abuse has sparked renewed interest in the case.

The cast and creatives of the series described its “Rashaman” approach to the story.

Ryan Murphy’s new medical drama Doctor Odyssey is already breaking records, and it hasn’t even premiered. The trailer for the new series broke records after it went viral on social media. It also teased a possible theory about the show’s premise.
Unprecedented Record

Ryan Murphy’s new ABC medical drama Doctor Odyssey starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson is headed for the record books with its trailer logging 77.8 million views within its first 48 hours of release. The total makes this the most-watched trailer for a new broadcast TV show ever. The prior record was held by This Is Us, which amassed a similar total over its first 11 days. The NBC series went on to have a very successful six-season run.
The top platform for Doctor Odyssey was TikTok, which accounted for 38.8M views on the official ABC channel alone, with Facebook coming up second with 23M. Back in 2016 when This Is Us premiered, TikTok was in its infancy, with the lion share of trailer viewing done on Facebook (50M in 11 days.)

The Doctor is in, and we're ready to see the many saves and medical emergencies. Doctor Odyssey arrives in less than a week, and the first full-length trailer is out.
We already knew to expect some top-named guest stars here and there. After all, the Queen of Country Pop is going to be in at least one episode, and the latest trailer gives us the same clip from the teaser. We still have no idea who Shania Twain is going to play.
That's not all. The Doctor Odyssey trailer makes it clear there are more big names. It looks like a big guest star per episode, which makes sense considering how many people Ryan Murphy has worked with over the year.
John Stamos, Cheyenne Jackson, and more joining the guest list on Doctor Odyssey

Nina West can thank a phone call from friend Zelda Williams for her biggest acting opportunity to date.
“Zelda Williams calls. ‘My friend has you on their vision board for this movie. Would you be Ok if I introduced you?’” recalls West, the drag queen who is also known as Andrew Levitt.
Their mutual friend was Tina Romero, a filmmaker and daughter of late zombie maestro George A. Romero, the revered Night of the Living Dead director.
The younger Romero wrote West a note, recalling how before her father’s death in 2017, she received his blessing on her own project, a movie called Queens of the Dead. The horror-comedy centers on drag queens and club kids battling the undead during an outbreak at a drag show in Brooklyn. Would West want to be a part of the movie?

Not all actors enjoy watching themselves on-screen — Adam Driver famously walked out of an interview with NPR's Terry Gross when she played a clip of one of his scenes from "Marriage Story," to present the most extreme example. Apparently, Mayim Bialik also hates watching her own performances, and that includes her nine-season run on the hit CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory."
Bialik talked to The Metro UK in June 2020 — roughly one year after "The Big Bang Theory" concluded after 12 seasons — about her career and made a surprising admission: she's watched very little of the show that revived her career. "I've never seen most of the episodes," Bialik revealed. "I don't watch myself on television. I've never sat and watched an episode of our show, ever."
Obviously, Bialik isn't being entirely literal here; during the filming process, she ended up watching scenes that featured her. What the actress meant...

Many video game fans will know that Borderlands is one of the most beloved action games of all time. Currently, there are four main games in the series, as well as some spin-offs and crossovers, but regardless of that, the series is undoubtedly one of the more popular ones.
In light of the recent successes of video game adaptations, a Borderlands movie was demanded by fans, and we now know that the movie is coming out today, but it seems that most fans will be disappointed, wishing that the movie – at least in this format – had never been made.
Namely, ahead of the US premiere of the Borderlands movie, which is happening today – on August 9, 2024 – the first critics’ reviews (for those who’ve seen the previews) are in and the critics have absolutely destroyed the movie, and it seems that the first audience reactions are also very disappointing.

Filming wrapped on director Eli Roth‘s adaptation of the Borderlands video game series from Gearbox and 2K way back in June of 2021. A year and a half later, Deadpool director Tim Miller had to step in to handle the project’s two weeks of reshoots because Roth had the chance to finally – after sixteen years – make a feature based on the Thanksgiving faux trailer he put together for the Quentin Tarantino / Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse. The Borderlands reshoots have been completed, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Lionsgate is now gearing up to finally release Borderlands into the world on August 9th… and with that date right around the corner, a featurette has arrived online to give us a look at the “dysfunctional family” of characters at the heart of the story. Gena Rowlands is living with Alzheimer’s disease, her son Nick Cassavetes announced in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. Cassavetes, who directed his mother in 2004’s “The Notebook,” said Rowlands is “in full dementia.” A four-time Emmy winner and two-time Golden Globe winner, Rowlands is a screen icon best known for her acclaimed collaborations with husband John Cassavetes, including the films “A Woman Under the Influence” (1974) and “Gloria” (1980). Both performances earned her Oscar nominations for best actress. She received an honorary Academy Award in 2015.
Nick Cassavetes told Entertainment Weekly that his mother’s Alzheimer’s disease is made all the more surreal for him considering he directed her as a woman with dementia in “The Notebook.”
