Matthew Tingey
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
- Additional Crew
- Producer
Matthew was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on December
31st 1983 - New Year's Eve. He was adopted 9 days later by the parents
he loves and regards today. His father, a lawyer from Port Alberni, a
small logging town on Vancouver Island, went to teach English in
Malaysia where he ended up meeting Matthew's mother. The two moved to
Vancouver where they applied to adopt, when, shortly after and much to
their surprise, they were gifted with a new baby boy.
Matt started working on films when he was 21, starting from the bottom as a production assistant on local TV shows and films including "Supernatural" (2007), "X-Files 2: I Want To Believe" (2008) and "The A-Team" (2010). Matt became the AD trainee on "Exes and Ohs" (2006) when the previous trainee failed to show up to set on the first day of shooting due to breaking his legs the night before. Matt continued to work as an assistant director and became a member of the Directors Guild of Canada in 2008. With his determination, Matt quickly became a professional in the film industry. In 2009, he joined the Vancouver-based production company High Deaf Productions. Matt is currently (2012) working as a first assistant director on commercials, music videos and feature films.
Following his dreams to produce more films, Matt teamed up with Josh Laner and Michael Khazen to produce the Canadian documentary "My Other Me: A Film About Cosplayers" (2012). On it's opening night, the film won the "Audience Choice" award. The film has also been accepted as part of the official selection of Australia's Gold Coast Film Festival 2013.
When he is not on set, you can find him cooking at home with his beautiful wife, a visual effects coordinator, and working on his own feature script.
