It’s been four years since Patrick J. Adams suited up — get it? — as Mike Ross on the USA legal drama Suits. Since then the Canadian native’s continued acting, portraying everything from an astronaut and preacher to, yes, a lawyer. Ahead, check out what Adams has been in since Suits ended in 2019.
‘The Right Stuff’ marked Patrick J. Adams’s first project after ‘Suits’
From lawyer to astronaut, Adams took a step back in time with the 2020’s The Right Stuff. The Disney+ adaptation based on Tom Wolfe’s bestselling book of the same name followed Adams as John Glenn and the rest of the original Mercury 7.
The period drama ran for one season on Disney+ before being canceled and reportedly shopped to other networks (via Deadline). All eight episodes are available to stream on Disney+.

Both Carey (Adelaide Clemens) and Simon (Patrick J. Adams) have news. Who should go first? Well, there’s a reason most people ask for the bad. Yes, they often want the good news to soften the blow rather than have it ruined by the bad, but what about the risk that doing it the other way around might cause the bad news never to be spoken? That’s what happens here. Who knows what might have been if Simon spoke first? But because he didn’t, Carey’s revelation that she’s pregnant—and he’s always wanted a child—causes him to put the piece of paper in his hand back into his coat pocket before pumping his fists in the air with unbridled joy. Why erase that high? His disclosure can wait.

The Swearing Jar director Lindsay MacKay is opening up about a near-death experience that never came up with the indie film’s producers when interviewing to direct a romantic drama that stars Adelaide Clemens and Suits star Patrick J. Adams and has its world premiere this weekend at the Toronto Film Festival.
As art imitates life, one of the film’s lead characters has a brain aneurysm, and MacKay herself came close to death in 2017 when she was hospitalized due to a traumatic brain injury. “Wow, this is the universe telling me I should go after this,” MacKay told The Hollywood Reporter about her reaction to reading the original film script for The Swearing Jar by Kate Hewlett.

Rodney (David Hewlett) on video tape doesn't recall his name and he's not a doctor anymore as he's no longer smart. He asks about Sheppard (Joe Flanigan). Jeannie (Kate Hewlett) got a message from him four hours ago and he was fine. Woolsey (Robert Picardo) wants her to have a chance to say goodbye to her brother. Sheppard tells her of the "snafu on the last mission." Dr Nicol's team hasn't called in. Sheppard and the team were sent to the town and discovered the stargate under water. He sends a message back to send through a jumper. They must stay until the stargate is accessible when the water level lowers. Sheppard complains he got wet when he had to dial the Dhd. Ronon tells Rodney he's letting the hot air out of his mouth everytime he opens it. Rodney fell asleep in the jumper when they were rescued eventually.

Toronto – The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC) is weighing "Fancy," a half-hour comedy pilot about a complicated kids TV host from Vancouver-based indie producer Gang of Two and Crescent Entertainment, as a possible 2010 series pick-up.
James Genn directed the "Fancy" pilot for executive producer Jayme Pfahl and producers Wendy Hopkins and Ken Lawson.
The comedy pilot, written by Hopkins and starring Kate Hewlett, Pat McKenna and Jana Peck, follows the host of a kids TV show, Maureen Fancy (Hewlett), who is perky and happy on camera, and anything but off camera as she fends off endless complications in her personal life.
A CBC spokesman said the public broadcaster has just received the pilot, and will decide on an additional 12-episode order early in the new year.
The public broadcaster earlier this week ordered two seasons of the new computer-generated animation series "Pirates!" from Halifax-based indie producer Halifax Films for its morning preschool block,...

Well, members of the cast and crew of Stargate Sg-1 and Stargate Atlantis have gotten together for a movie -- though not in a way that fans might expect. David Hewlett (Dr. Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis) is making his writing and directorial debut with a new independent comedy film entitled A Dog's Breakfast. The film was shot early this year and was produced in Vancouver, British Columbia during the Stargate hiatus period.
Knowing talent when he sees it, Hewlett utilized the talents of several members of the cast and crew from the Sg-1 and Atlantis family. Hewlett co-stars in the film and was joined by his real-life sister Kate Hewlett (Jeanie Miller on Atlantis), Paul McGillion (Carson Beckett on Atlantis, who is also, by the way, departing the show mid-season three as a regular), Christopher Judge (Teal'c on Sg-1), Rachel Luttrell (Teyla Emmagan on Atlantis), Amanda Byram (host of...

MGM serving 'Breakfast' with comedy
TORONTO -- MGM said Monday that it has acquired worldwide rights to A Dog's Breakfast, a low-budget dark comedy shot in Vancouver by the cast and crew of MGM's Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 while on production hiatus.
The film, directed by David Hewlett, who plays Dr. Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis, recently garnered about 100,000 views when clips from the project were uploaded on YouTube.
The movie was shot for about $1 million in January at a house adjoining Deer Lake in Vancouver. Hewlett wrote and directed the comedy, which stars Christopher Judge (Stargate SG-1), Rachel Luttrell (Stargate Atlantis) and Amanda Byram (The Swan), with Jane Loughman and John G. Lenic sharing producer credits.
Breakfast follows a brother (Hewlett) attempting to thwart a new relationship involving his sister (Kate Hewlett) and her TV star fiance, Ryan (Paul McGillion).
MGM acquired all rights for the film, including TV, new media and home video.
"We are delighted to be working with David Hewlett and Kibble Prods. on this hilarious comedy," MGM executive vp Charles Cohen said.
