KollywoodNayanthara plays an innocent girl who faces a lot of financial struggles, due to which she enters the world of smuggling and starts selling drugs.Digital NativeDigital NativeNayanthara has gained a name for herself in the industry with her choice of strong, female-centric films. The Lady Superstar’s previous film, Aramm, in which she played an assertive Ias officer, was lauded by fans and critics alike. The actor’s upcoming flick, Kolamaavu Kokila (CoCo), is already creating a buzz in industry circles. Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film has completed the censor formalities and has been given a U/A certification. The trailer for the film was released on Thursday and has gone viral. In the film, Nayanthara plays an innocent girl who faces a lot of financial struggles, due to which she enters the world of smuggling and starts selling drugs. The trailer has a few funny moments, especially when Sharanya prays for the safe delivery of the 100 kg of drugs and when Yogi Babu figures out that the stuff inside the mattress is actually not “kolamaavu”. With Nayanthara taking aim with the gun towards the end of the trailer, can Kolamaavu Kokila be our version of Breaking Bad? The film has music by Anirudh and the single ‘Kalyana Vayasu’ written by Sivakarthikeyan was released in May. Featuring Yogi Babu and Nayanthara, the song went viral on social networking sites and was trending on YouTube. With CoCo, Anirudh is collaborating with Nayanthara yet again after Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and Velaikkaran. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the film also stars Sharanya Ponvannan and Yogi Babu in important roles. Nayanthara is also busy with Ajith’s Viswasam and has a couple of thrillers in Tamil, Imaikkaa Nodigal and Kolaiyuthir Kaalam, up her sleeve. In addition to this, she is working on Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in Telugu, a biopic on the freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. Directed by Surender Reddy, the film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Amitabh Bachchan and Sudeep in key roles. With half a dozen projects in her kitty, Nayanthara recently gave her nod to another project, to be helmed by Arivazhagan of Eeram and Kuttram 23 fame. Amidst rumours that the project has been shelved, reliable sources have clarified that the film has not been dropped and that the team is on the lookout for a new producer. It has also been confirmed that Nayanthara will work on Aramm 2, which will be directed by Gopi Nainar. TollywoodThe project will mark Bengali actor Megha Choudhary's Tamil debutDigital NativeTitled Varma, the Tamil remake of last year’s path-breaking Telugu film Arjun Reddy, directed by Bala, marks the debut of Vikram’s son Dhruv, who will reprise Vijay Devarakonda’s role from the original. Announced last November, the regular shooting of the film, according to reliable sources, began in Kathmandu, Nepal in March. After wrapping up the first schedule in Nepal, the team had to stop shooting due to Kollywood strike, courtesy a stand-off between digital service providers and Tamil film producers. Three months since the project went on the floors, the makers have finally found their leading lady after trying out several options. According to a Times of India report, Bengali actor Megha Choudhary has been roped in to play the role originally played by Shalini Pandey. This project will mark Megha’s Tamil debut and apparently her expressive eyes caught the attention of Bala, who subsequently auditioned her and brought her on board. Recently, there were reports that Shriya Sharma was signed as the leading lady. It turns out it was merely a rumour that was circulated by a section of media. Megha has already started shooting for the project. Meanwhile, filmmaker Raju Murugan, known for helming films such as Cuckoo and Joker, has been signed to pen the dialogues. The project is being bankrolled by E4 Entertainment, producers of popular Malayalam films such as Ezra and Godha. Vikram had hinted in the past that his son will eventually follow in his footsteps. However, he wasn’t sure whether he’d be interested in acting or direction. Last year, Dhruv directed a short film called Goodnight Charlie which was about child abuse within a family. When the film came out, many assumed that he has directorial dreams and would enter the industry as a director. It’s surprising that he has decided to don the greasepaint and it won’t be an easy debut considering the high expectations people will have on the remake, thanks to the popularity of the character Arjun Reddy, a contemporary take on Devdas, which explored love and suffering in the most hard-hitting fashion.

Never one to undersell his strengths, Siddharth recently surprised even his most ardent fans - not to mention stars such as Kamal Hassan, Rajnikanth and even Madhuvan - by suggesting that he was as big as Shahrukh Khan in Tollywood. "I do a lot of romantic roles in Telugu films,” he says, “In fact when people say you are the Aamir Khan of Telugu films, I say I am the Shah Rukh Khan of the film industry. I do all the Tujhe dekha toh ye jaana sanam type of sequences in Telugu.”
Siddharth, still most famous for his role in Rang De Basanti, had some hits earlier in his career with Boys, Nuvvostanante Nenodantana and Bommarillu but existed in a kind of daze until the release of Striker earlier this year - the first movie to be released directly on to Youtube, which has so received nearly a million views.
