Roberta, a Toronto native and former Sundance Programer, wrote, directed and/or produced over 30 award-winning shorts film and several features for companies such as Fox Searchlight, AT&T and the United Nations (UNFPA), that have played at festivals worldwide, (Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW and Tokyo Short Film Festival), won many "Best Of" awards, and/or enjoyed a theatrical release and television broadcast.
Roberta's directorial debut, Dani and Alice (a 2005 Fox Searchlight Directors Lab project) played at over 120 festivals globally and was the recipient of the PlanetOut Best Drama Award 2006. The film received a distribution deal with Wolfe Releasing and was featured on MTV Network's Logo on The Click List: Top 10 Videos.
Her second short Happy Birthday enjoyed the same level of success in 2008.
Roberta's third short form directing project, The Sibling Code premiered at the Nantucket Film Festival in 2016.
She also wrote, directed and produced Family Prayers commissioned by the UNFPA (United Nations), Maja and Family Prayers focusing on children, women and reproductive rights in Egypt and Eastern Europe.
Her current television project, Detox, is a half hour comedy about toxic masculinity that was selected for the inaugural 2020 Canadian Creative Acceleration Program, "Searching For The Next Schitt's Creek".
Roberta is Co-Founder of The Blackhouse, an educational and celebration space for Black filmmakers and their supporters at Sundance, and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
