Andrew Katos(I)
- Actor
Andrew Katos is originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. A second-generation Greek, all four grandparents hailing
from the Greek island of Cephalonia, Katos was instilled with the
importance of strong family bonds and not becoming complacent with
one's station in life. It was this kind of upbringing that shaped Katos
into the adventurous and optimistic person that he is today. From
care-free summers on the Jersey Shore to backpacking through Europe
after graduating from high school and college. Katos' attitude early in
life reflected a joie de vivre and a love for living in the moment.
Upon his graduation from the University of Maryland, having earned a BA in Marketing, Katos set his sights on the Los Angeles entertainment industry. During an internship at MTV News, a colleague urged Katos to pursue a career in front of the camera. A pivotal point in his decision to become an actor occurred when he played the lead role in his cousin's USC student film. Over the next four years, Katos worked hard to learn his craft, taking on odd jobs to support himself while auditioning and attending the Sanford Meisner Center. At SMC, Katos's confidence grew under the tutelage of Martin Barter and through performing in numerous plays. He soon landed the lead role of the Italian painter/sculptor Modigliani in the play titled "Modigliani." It was not long after this milestone that Katos was asked to take part in a workshop led by the legendary acting coach and Actor's Studio member, Sandra Seacat.
Recent film credits include a leading role in the sci-fi film "Identity". The film is directed by Kyle Jefferson of DreamWorks. Katos was also the lead in "National Lampoon's Cattle Call" (Lions Gate) with Chelsea Handler, Thomas Ian Nicholas and Diedrich Bader. Had a nice strong supporting role in "Push" with Chazz Palminterri and Michael Rapaport. Katos' goal in acting, be it comedy or drama, is to contribute to projects that will be entertaining as well as having a message that is universally human. No matter where this particular journey takes him, Katos will be forever indebted to his friends and family for their never ending support.
